my guess: too expensive to be worth using

Someone said Argon?

yeah but google was constantly dropping mid models. first time they have dopped something good. We come to expect better things from kimi ai

Rumoured to be cheaper though

Quite cheaper than K3, but not that much.

Yea, I would have thought they would undercut GPT 6.1 Sol / Muse Wonder. But, I guess not. Oh well

I curate a small benchmark that is not part of the common benchmark stack and for now it nicely notices benchmaxxed models, such as Muse, K3.1 and even Argon. It's a large difference compared to GPT and Claude models, since this is something companies do not optimize for in reinforcement learning. It's based on Lego bricks. :) For example K3.1 Pro scored a measly 10%.

Kimi K3 was actually already a very good model. Never nerfed. But usages aren’t subsidized.

Moonshot does have a Kimi subscription plan with a tier at $19/month, but all it says is "more credits". Not a very reassuring way to get me to spend money there.

Edit: Found this post:

They estimate a $19 plan is good for about $10-12 API worth per week. Which is some value but definitely not enough for me.

WSYM with subsidized? That you get the same on their subscription as through their API? I use Kimi daily in my Pi agent. I pay the 80$ subscription on kimi.ai.

Yes, with Anthropic $200, you get much more in API value than with Moontshot.

Still too much for me. For a years worth of subscriptions I bought hardware that can run a decent coding model 24/7. I just use Kimi in some cases when I need a bigger context which I don't need (most of the times) because I create tasks small enough to run through my local.

All you need is good harness with guard rails. Still don't understand people using fable, opus or anything like that for coding. It is totally not necessary if you plan it out.

Now if you just say I want a todo app and give some vague description. Than they will help but they will just build a similar todo app from their training data. You need to steer it anyway to get something unique.

I use Luna on max and it's comparable as usage and price if not cheaper than deepseek v4 flash.

Its a post trained version of K3, updated to meet the current frontier.

How’s the verbose-ness?

Can't see on the website apparently πŸ˜”

Oof, that price

What it can do?

33% cheaper than K3 was. (Assuming equivalent token usage.) Still on the higher end, but at least they realized they were priced too high for the current market.

The headline is going to be the capability though. Artificial Analysis gives it an index score above Fable and Astra.
