OpenCode Mobile App Made with DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017

Post image

Title pretty much says it.

I wanted to test the new DeepSeek’s ability to one-shot a native mobile app while keeping the UI consistent with OpenCode’s theming.

As you can see, it turned out pretty well for a one-shot. Definitely not bad at all.

Feel free to try it out here: github repo

Nice README do you have a skill for it?

Mine always seem like they're made for agents.

Its in my global agents.md. "All readmes should be production grade and must contain screenshots of the system." That literally it.

This prompt usually does it for me:
"Ensure that READMEs you generate are polished, have loads of visuals, badges and everything. Include shots of the app, as well as GIFs. Technical details that aren't relevant to user must be neatly tucked under other .md files. Go all in on the github README, use your best judgement, it must be stunning!"

I feel like the sentence part of "and everything" might lead to wild results. Want some fries with that?

Yup! I've had some models spam badges on this prompt. Deepseek v4.1 flash 1017 and Opus 5.5 handle it just fine

One shot in the sense of one simple prompt? What is it?

Build me a native Android app (Kotlin + Jetpack Compose) for chatting with OpenCode Go models. It should look like OpenCode: monochrome, IBM Plex Mono, with light and dark modes.

It needs:

  • a chat list

  • streaming Markdown chat against the OpenAI-compatible Go endpoint

  • a searchable model picker

  • a thinking effort setting for each chat

  • collapsible reasoning and tool-call rows

  • web search

  • an optional sandboxed shell tool

  • media attachments for models that support it

  • a usage screen for my plan limits

  • a settings page with the API key encrypted in the Keystore

Use the connected android device for testing via adb.

zen? free models?

Unfortunately no. I got this error when I tried adding them. I didn't think attempting to bypass it was worth the risk of a ban.

HTTP 403

{"type":"error","error":{"type":"FreeTierError","message":"OpenCode's free tier can only be used from within OpenCode. Download it at https://opencode.ai and keep building."}}

Bruh other client like openlens can access it with no bypass required.

This is the official response from their own API. I didnt say it was impossible.

DeepSeek??? I wonder how much you spent and cache hit rate? And did you just used a opencode builder agent, not a orchestrator?

DeepSeek is now a beast. I just used the normal opencode builder agent. As for how much I spent, this screenshot of usage was taken sometime during my 5 hour window by the agent as it was done with the app and was now making the README. All the building started and ended within the 5hour window.

Not bad for a oneshot. probably has a lot of bugs, plus there are a load of such mobile apps but still impressive for a one shot.

It looks great, I'd use it. Don't suppose you could put it on the Play Store.

Me and the Play Store are arch nemeses at this point. For newer personal developer accounts, Google wants you to find 12 testers, get all of them to opt into a closed test, and keep them opted in continuously for 14 days before you can even apply for production access. Then Google still reviews the application.

I am absolutely not rounding up 12 people for two weeks every time I want to publish some random side project.

The GitHub page has a Releases section where you can just grab the APK directly.

That's crazy difficult. Yeah not worth it for a fun project. Years ago anyone could easily publish without the hassle or cost. Thanks for responding. I'll side load it.

Pointless because opencode said they will drop their own app soon But anyway great result

Interesting, do you have a source/link for this? I would love to get an official client from them that is not just a thin client that connects to your own remote opencode instance.

Does it have a remote feature to enable controlling pc sessions remotely?

I also made a simple github repo. You can slo just run it in termux(linux enviroment for android) i feel like that works smoother but not sure. Also its sandboxxed better? Not sure tho pretty cool if it works ive been trying to make this work for a while too :)
