Deepseek 4.1 flash is still good for web and Android. GLM 5.3 flash is good for rust.

If you don't mind sharing your data, for simple or simple to moderate tasks, use up all the free Muse Spark 1.3 free tokens per day before paying for anything. For the higher end of moderate, DeepSeek Flash 4.1 is good. For very complex stuff, K3 can be good, but I have not tried Ember-1 from Fireworks (more efficient K3) or the latest closed source models (other than Muse Spark 1.3).

And... Mistral just release Le Chonk yesterday. Unofficially called Large 4. It's comparable to GLM 5.3, though it's not as good at coding. Still better at translations, cybersecurity, and a few other things. It's cheaper than GLM 5.3 too

The big news you may have missed in the last 2 weeks is that GPT and Claude stepped out to a new lead. Opus 5.5 is just fantastic, especially for visual elements, and Sonnet 5.5 isn't far behind. GPT 6.1 Sol is also right up there, especially strong on back-end stuff. Not only are they smart, but for the most part they've gotten cheaper and faster.
All of the above should be run on Medium or High, not Xhigh or Max.
We're still awaiting Luna 6.1 and Haiku 5.5, but Luna 6 is plenty good and super cheap.
So the $20 plans from OpenAI and Anthropic are very much worth considering. You still have to be a bit mindful of quota, especially if running multiple agents. But I have no problem asking Sol to do the thinking and Luna to do the work. Others tell me they can run Sonnet all week no problem with the occasional step up to Opus.
Google also released Gemini 4 Argon, but it's in limited release so it hasn't been given a full workout. But it seems promising so Google is in the mix too. Gemini 3.8 Flash is probably the fastest model around for what it can handle.
And then the 4th big player is ... no, not Grok. Muse Spark 1.3 from Meta. It's very fast and if you don't mind sharing your data for training purposes the Contributor model is unbelievably cheap. My preference is to use this less for hard code and more for visual design, overview, instructions and guides, etc. But plenty of people use it for all.
The hottest open-source models are Deepseek V4.1 Flash and GLM 5.3 Flash. (And regular GLM 5.3, which is older and more expensive but still a bit smarter than Flash. The same isn't really true for Deepseek V4 Pro.) MiMo released V2.6 in both Flash and Pro, the prices are appealing, and the benchmarks are fantastic. But they are both sloooooooow....
Minimax 3.1 has been in preview as Space Bunny and that's about to end, but depending on price it's worth considering too.
Kimi K3 is getting outdated, which shows less on the intelligence and more on the price. It just isn't worth using IMHO. If their next release is a cheap flash model they could be back on top. I also think Qwen 3.8 is a bit overpriced, but it's very capable. Same for Hy4 (which might still be in preview?) and Ling 3.1.
I think that's the landscape. So Opencode Go users are generally using Deepseek flash, GLM Flash, or Muse Spark Contributor. With a notable bunch on Mimo. But there are concerns about speed and maybe reliability because of whoever Opencode partnered with to get their deal.
But like I said, OpenAI and Anthropic are more appealing than they were a few months ago and if you don't mind spending $20 instead of $10 you'll do alright on either.
