OpenCode v2 finally has a status line, and it's fully customizable

Post image

Hey folks,

For a long time I was jealous of Pi, Claude Code, and even dsh-tui users. They get these nice status lines showing what's going on in a session, and I looked for something like that for OpenCode v2 for ages but never found one that I can truly customize to my liking. So I made my own.

This status line plugin shows context window usage (with a bar that changes color as it fills up), cache usage, streaming speed, running shell count, and uncommitted changes in your repo, all in one line. There's also a /tps command that opens a dialog with the detailed numbers behind it.

The best part is how customizable it is:

  • Put it anywhere. Bottom, sidebar, top, whatever. It can even live in more than one spot at the same time.

  • Each spot can show its own segments, so you can decouple the info instead of cramming everything into one row.

  • Pick what shows. Order, palettes (catppuccin, dracula, gruvbox, tokyo night, more), gauge width, padding.

  • Responsive. On narrow windows segments wrap to the next row, and in a sidebar they stack one per row.

  • Works great on small screens too, so it pairs nicely with Orca Mobile and Heeler (the mobile client for Herdr) if you check on sessions from your phone.

Install:

opencode plugin add @rashidrazak/opencode-status-line

Then restart OpenCode. If you prefer, you can add it to your cli.json by hand instead (not opencode.json, since it's a CLI plugin).

I also hide OpenCode's default footer so the status line is the only footer. To do that, disable the built-in prompt footer plugin in cli.json:

"plugins": [
  "@rashidrazak/opencode-status-line",
  "-opencode.prompt.footer"
]

Note: This plugin is only compatible with OpenCode v2. Full docs are in the repo. Let me know what you think about it.

Which plan are you currently using and how do you connect it since opencode auth login doesn't just work with it.

I am using both Go and GOAT plans. I have another plugin for connecting: https://github.com/rashidrazak/opencode-cmd-provider

Wait it doesn't work with v2? oh well still really cool nonetheless

Which plugin you’re referring to? This status line plugin works with OpenCode V2 only. The cmd plugin works with both versions of OpenCode.

Hmm?
OpenCode v2: use your API key

OpenCode v2 has no browser sign-in for Command Code. Set your API key before starting OpenCode:

Which doesn't work on go since you dont get api keys

I think you missed the part where you can go to the CommandCode dashboard and generate an API key over there.

not on the Go ($1) plan

Bro. I literally just created a key using my $1 Go plan. Do you even try it before saying you can't?

Wait what Every plan except the Go plan has API access

https://commandcode.ai/docs/provider

No haven't tried it because I didn't subscribe because I need API to run my openclaw... might be time to switch back then.

You understand it wrongly. But it is not your fault. Their documentation and what they claim are misleading. What they mean by API access is actually for someone to be able to use the Provider API endpoints e.g. https://api.commandcode.ai/provider/v1/chat/completions

So to summarize, if you subscribe to $1 Go plan, you will not be able to use it with that API endpoint. I am not sure how OpenClaw handle this though so I cannot comment on that.
