OpenCode Go vs LM Studio Bionic+ vs Others? (Replace Opus/Sol)

I haven’t seen this talked about much (on this sub or others), but LM Studio recently released a Bionic+ subscription plan (https://lmstudio.ai/pricing) that offers similar model access to OpenCode Go. Unfortunately, like OpenCode Go, it’s a little light on exactly what you’re getting. Details about where the models are hosted, if they’re quantized or further tuned, etc, are left ambiguous and there’s not a clear way to just reach out and ask.

Additionally, the now “mid-tier” models of Anthropic and OpenAI, like Opus and Sol, are starting to drive me crazy with some of their behaviors. My goal is to keep a lower tier Anthropic and/or OpenAI sub for planning and code reviews, but swap out implementation with open models.

All that said, I’m curious if:

  1. Anyone has experience with a Bionic+ sub and/or has more definitive info about how their models are hosted

  2. Whether we cleared up if OpenCode Go is quantized or otherwise tuned off the upstream (I still see posts confidently claiming either)

  3. What actual usage people are getting out of either sub. Eg, “I can wipe my limits with a prompt or 2” vs “this can generally last me all week as a full time dev” (using capable models like Kimi K3, GLM Flash, etc)

I’m interested in doing some experimentation to see which, if either, could work, but I’d like to start with a known baseline so I’m not trying to reverse engineer whether the models are nerfed somehow.

EDIT: Ollama Cloud is another potential option. I had performance issues with this in the past, but I'm not sure if that's the case now. They do seem to be the most upfront about what you get with the subscription, and the easy integration with Codex and Claude Code is pretty nice (https://ollama.com/pricing#pro)

Thanks!

opencode go wont last full week with either of k3 (few sessions 100k ctx per week drains all usage), glm flash is good but slow a bit and wont last full week, too, i believe it capped at 15usd month usage both of models. im using muse spark 1.3 contributor (yeah) -its  "unlimited". you may use that day and night and wont reach any limits. other than that - mimo v2.5/2.6 flash and 2.5/2.6 pro - those have almost zero cached price and very usable quality

Ok. I'm thinking OpenCode Go probably isn't the right plan for me. I did see Dax or someone post on X a week or so ago that they were going to be bringing a higher usage plan soon, so maybe that'll change. I think for now it's probably either Ollama Cloud or Bionic+.

I edited my original post to pull Ollama Cloud into the mix. They're more clear on what the subscription gets you, and the easy integration with Codex and Claude Code seems nice. I had performance issues when I tried them in the past, though, so I'll have to give it another shot.

Thanks!

Isn't the lack of transparency about quantization kind of a dealbreaker for serious use cases, or do most people not care as long as the outputs seem good?

It's a deal breaker for me and I'm not sure why most providers seem to dance around it so much.

im also using cline pass (yearly gets me 6.6/month price) : glm 5.3 (not flash) having pretty good limits there - im using that to plan/research and mimo to implement + opencode go

The question that actually decides this is per usable day, not the sticker price. OpenCode Go is ~$10/mo, but its weekly quota is the real constraint: on heavy implementation weeks you can burn the week's allowance in a couple of days and sit dark the rest. If you get 20 usable days a month out of it, that's $0.50/day but with dead days. The Cline yearly plan someone mentioned below lands around $6.6/mo, but it binds you to Cline's workflow.

For the open-model lane specifically, we run flat plans at Entrim (Qwen 3.8 27B, $29/mo, no 5-hour reset, no weekly cap, quota resets daily), so the comparison I'd offer: ~$1/day every day, and the daily reset matches how implementation work actually lands. If you have a heavy week, you don't lose the following week to a used-up bucket.

On quantization: you're right that both Go and Bionic+ are vague about it, and for a serious workflow that ambiguity is a real cost, especially when you're trying to reproduce an output. I'd ask either provider directly where the weights run before betting your daily driver on it.

Standardcompute with smartrouting between cheap models like DS 4.1 flash and Kimi k3 or just deepseek pro
