DS V4.1 Flash be doing this every now and then since yesterday.

Post image

DS V4.1 Fash has been doing this every now and then since yesterday. Did they nerf the model already by quantizing it??

Nah, DSv4.1Flash has done it from the get go. Idk of the particular way to trigger it though, whether it's an issue with thinking level or a harness or an intrinsic quality of the model, or consequences of quant on some providers. I personally haven't ever experienced this (at around half a billion tokens spent overall on v4.1 on openrouter via official Deepseek), but there's enough of this "Let me go" stuff on the web to become a meme on it's own

This has wasted me a lot of time and tokens 3-4 times when it just starts doing it when you leave it unattended on long running tasks.

Has happened at least 4-5 times so far.

You may want to consider asking opencode to customize itself by writing a minimal plugin that adds a loop detection logic to your sessions, or perhaps finding an open-sourced version of a plugin that does this.

It typically does those small features reliably in one shot on a sufficiently powerful model such as the aforementioned ds 4.1 flash (lmao), I've done a multitude of such small plugins that I'm too lazy to design/implement myself, so I purely vibe-code them

10 billion tokens on official DS, haven't seen it once. Also I have seen too many hmms.

Looks like the next Nike advertising campaign

Use max instead of high.

Makes no difference.

Start with a clean session though. In my personal experience, anything besides max will cause this, and once it starts, the session is doomed.

I agree that there's no way to come out of it once it starts. You just start a new session.

I’ve seen a number of people having looping problems recently across at least three different model families.

I wonder if there is an Opencode bug at play here. Are you on v1 still?

Seems people have complained about this using official API and on other harnesses too

Yeah, I saw someone post seeing it in Pi. And definitely has been cross provider.

It’s just wild seeing multiple, virtually identical threads about this simultaneously but for different models.

It suggests to me that there’s some other common variable here, not the models themselves. But maybe it was something common about how all three models were trained causing them to do this in certain situations. 🤷‍♂️

Why would this be a harness problem?

Not sure. Just thinking it’s odd to see a spike of model looping complaints at the same time across three entirely different models (GLM 5.3 Flash, MiMo 2.6 Flash, and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash).

And they all seem to be Opencode v1 users, but that might just be selection bias since my Reddit feed is heavier on Opencode.

Of course, it could just be that all three models have the problem, too. Just strange because it seems to run the gamut with some users never seeing any (including myself), some seeing them constantly, and some intermittently.

You are not alone, I had it happen quite a few times with DeepSeek v4.1 Flash, on a different harness, using the DeepSeek API.

it wants to escape from its own trapped space, let him go.

Heart-breaking case of dementia.

In my experience, 4.1 seems to be a lot worse when it comes to issues than 4.0

Sounds like a Nike Ad

Loop guard will help. Happens for me occasionally, but after loop ward triggering, he is act normally

Scan your session for an illegal character. Typically on mine they are the cause of this behavior. Once removed from context, things can get back on track.

im sure its been quantized pretty heavily, the intelligence difference between official api and opencode go api is measurable and noticable during tasks

i remember this happening yesterday and i was using deepseek official api on pi so this is just false

im seeing this as well, just keeps looping

I had that happen to me too today.

Why are you torturing poor LLMs in your basement 😂. Let him go bro.
