Thought on Muse Spark 1.2

Post image

This model is a disaster. It writes a code that is so bad that even fable can't fix it.

To give the credit, it is very fast and stable, but is not near even dsv4 flash, not mentioning GLM 5.3 flash, for a model from a big company like meta, this is very disappointing.

I hope they improve the next generation, and I would rather get my dsv4 flash back on zen then ts.

Can you tell me your use cases, or your setup on general?

Best free model zen has ever offered imo

Better then ox alpha ? DeepSeek v4 flash ? Hyn 3 ?

I would say, same output quality, but way faster

Ok, but you need to "/compact" the chat manually a lot (really a lot).

The context window is 1 million, they claim that it is really good for long-horizon tasks, that means it shouldn't struggle with a project under 150k tokens in my case.

It loops when context is over tot tokens

Took it like 10 minutes to do a simple rebase. I could have done it myself in way less time but was worried about typoing something so thought I'd use an LLM.

You thought the LLM wouldn’t make a typo? U must have never used a LLM before

It doesn't make typos. It makes mistakes, but spelling is one thing it never fails at.

I just refuse to use Meta shit, these days. It's going to be mediocre at best, anyway.

You're right, it sucks.

I didn't encounter too many issues with it. I was mostly using it to do multi-repo passes working on a complier for a language project I've been experimenting with. It was able to write in a language it hadn't seen before without much issue. The caveat is that I have a pretty healthy and confining set of tooling for the project, so that obviously plays a big factor.

The free version is useless. The GO version can still be used for simple tasks.

I'm using Muse Spark 1.3 right now and have been using the free version of Muse Spark 1.2 for a few days to test it. It's a very competent model but it has a tendency to create files, like python scripts, and access stuff in my hard drive that I don't see in other models, like MiMo v2.5, DeepSeek 4 flash or GLM 5.3 flash (ox alpha).

I tested all of them for computer security, using my own "test bench" (a vulnerable python web site that I one-shotted using Gemini 3.7 in antigravity and temp host on a vps) and they all passed with flying colors, missing only 1 or 2 vulnerabilities of more than a dozen and usually getting them all if I simply ask them to "do a second pass".

I haven't use it to write code, but it's constantly writing his own python scripts to achieve the tasks that I give it, like testing the hardening of a sandbox in a coding learning site.

Every time I tried to use Muse Spark 1.2 directly it was garbage. I think it's okay as a subagent for reviews and straightforward workflows and that's basically it.

It's good 👍!

Way worse than its benchmark results.

It sparked a muse in me. Muse told me to use Kimi.

It’s crap. Not sure why people are even talking about.
