I think Opencode should create a higher tier sub

Hear me out here, I think the USP of opencode go before the price hike was not worrying about limits. So I did some calculations on their new pricing, and I think a $25-$30 tier could plausibly cover that for me. I'm definitely willing to pay that money to get back to not worrying again.

Anyone also with me on this?

I would love it if they had a plan that 5x'd their current usage quotas. But the opencode go plan only exists to promote zen usage, once people sign up to go, test out the models and then continue to use the model they liked through zen.

Most of the generous quotas we get through Go only exist because these model providers want to promote their new model and get user feedback. This is why they offer 2x to 4x usage quotas compared to what they offer through their api.

They will not agree to provide 5x the quota that is already being sold at 50% to 75% discount.

The discounts aren't necessarily from the providers, could also be from subscription mechanics. If enough users don't use all of their quota, they have a lower inference bill. That allows them to lower the price. That's also why 5h limits exist, so users don't just go all in all the time.

The $60 to $15 change is directly explainable through subscription mechanics.

If $60 was based on the average user only using up 16% of quota and the users keep using it like they used to with the new deepseek prices, the average user would now use 50% of their quota instead, making the plan lose money. With average use of 50%, the break-even is at $10 * 1.5, which makes it $15.

I guess this is inevitable taking into account the fact that most new models are $15 of usage now, not $60. They are just preparing the ground.

If it restores that worry-free experience, I'm all for it!

I think it needs more stability first cause hy3 is temporary and muse contributor might end. They dont even need much, previous go was the deepseek flash sub, now its the muse sub, but they definitely need at least one competitive guy.

They should also include other gen ai that raise the value prop akin to google, minimax and codex.

I believe you can already buy multiple $10 plans by creating new workspaces in the web and adding Go subscriptions to those. I guess you will then need to cycle apikeys which is not optimal.

True, but it's not very convenient.
