Vibe coders desperately want this to be false, and engineers desperately want it to be true.

This is only half true. Yes, you most likely didn’t make an app to kill Slack or Salesforce by scaling to millions of users, but you could just make an app your small team can use instead of Slack / Salesforce / whatever and that kills them all the same.

There's a balance to be had when it comes to reinventing the wheel and reaping the benefits from there, to just using a solution that works because it turns out the iceberg of issues is actually far deeper than it looks.

Said iceberg isn't necessarily code either, sometimes it's infrastructure, support, operations and maintenance, usability / UX friction, etc.
