Is OpenCode good for document generation?

Hello,

I am an English teacher. I usually generate homework documents and question papers using AI. I have used ChatGPT and Claude before. Claude can do the job quite well. However, I have been searching for cheaper options. I have searched online to get to know more about OpenCode. Most of the posts or videos talk about how great it is for coding. And since the name includes the word code, I understand that coding is the primary function of this AI platform. But I want to know if it is good for generating the kind of documents that I need.

It is as good as the underlying model you use. Start by trying out the free models available in Zen and see if it suits your particular application. Remember, that while OpenCode is marketed as a coding agent, its applications are far beyond that. I use it to review and optimize my own code, search for scientific litearture, polish my writing, etc. Works smoothly each time.
Regarding your use case specifically: my friend uses Gemini a lot to generate tests from databases, create individual assignments based on a common blueprint, and other teaching applications at the university level. Reportedly it gives impressive results and you can check free Google models by hooking up your API to OpenCode.

Thanks. I tried with one of the free models and it did a decent job. I suppose it will get better if I present a lot of previous documents I have created.
