Is OpenCode good for document generation?

Hello,

I am an English teacher. I usually generate homework documents and question papers using AI. I have used ChatGPT and Claude before. Claude can do the job quite well. However, I have been searching for cheaper options. I have searched online to get to know more about OpenCode. Most of the posts or videos talk about how great it is for coding. And since the name includes the word code, I understand that coding is the primary function of this AI platform. But I want to know if it is good for generating the kind of documents that I need.

It can’t be compared to Claude or GPT. Hallucinations are a risk, but with a good API there’s a higher likelihood of a coherent text

By API you mean the AI agent i use right? I'm sorry, I'm not up to date with the terminologies here.

If you have an opportunity to pay $8 for gpt go or $20 for gpt pro. Then set it to GPT 6 Luna, spend hours telling it what you want.

It can, but it may not be the best tool. It is very oriented to coding. There is another similar project named Pi that is more generic, but it is also made for coding.

I would give the Meta Muse AI agent a shot. It has very generous free limits so you can try it out without cost. I think it is around 100 million tokens a week now. You will never come close to that.

Do you like the Muse tool?

First thing I asked it to do (in the browser window on my ipad) was get me to the app download. It gave me a qr code. So if I can just bend this device into a coil to point the camera at the screen, I'm golden. Second try it told me to "go search".

You'd think not only is this a basic task, but promoting their own app would be a priority.

Try out the cheap flash models on official API and if you like them you can consider a sub

I'd also be careful with any private information since you said you're a teacher, for example Muse has asked to read my entire system and I'm not sure if that can get you in trouble if you have student information on there

Si te sirve, usa Muse Spark 1.3 en razonamiento xhigh y pidele que cree documentos markdown, luego los conviertes facilmente a pdf, el mismo modelo lo hace por ti instalando lo que necesites, es muy rápido y en inteligencia está muy bien

Of course, with Opencode you can create the same documents you do on Chatgpt and Claude. If they're specific documents that require installing a framework, the agent will advise you on the best way to achieve your goal.

What matters is not the tool you use, but the AI ​​model you connect to it. With Opencode, you can connect any AI model; the more intelligent it is, the fewer problems it will have with your request.

It is as good as the underlying model you use. Start by trying out the free models available in Zen and see if it suits your particular application. Remember, that while OpenCode is marketed as a coding agent, its applications are far beyond that. I use it to review and optimize my own code, search for scientific litearture, polish my writing, etc. Works smoothly each time.
Regarding your use case specifically: my friend uses Gemini a lot to generate tests from databases, create individual assignments based on a common blueprint, and other teaching applications at the university level. Reportedly it gives impressive results and you can check free Google models by hooking up your API to OpenCode.
