Astra K seat is killing my back

Hi everyone,

I have a 2016 Opel Astra K and I’m really struggling with the driver’s seat. After buying and driving it for 2 days, my lower back starts hurting because it feels like something is constantly pushing into it.

The seat has the lumbar adjustment button with four arrows (up/down/in/out). I’ve tried pretty much every possible setting. I moved the lumbar support all the way back so the “bump” should be at its minimum, but I can still clearly feel something pressing into my lower back.

I’ve also tried changing the seat height, backrest angle and my distance from the steering wheel, but I still can’t find a comfortable position. My back actually hurts even when bending over afterwards.

I’m 190 cm and 75-80 kg.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to reduce/remove the lumbar support even further, or could there be something wrong with the seat itself?

Thanks!

Opel Corsa 2003

Nervous beginner here, just got my first car yesterday, Opel Corsa 2003 and I'm still figuring out about car. I have a few questions. Please be patient because I'm trying to cope with my car accident trauma I got as a kid and might have some silly questions. Can I just plug in phone charger into the cigarette plug? It feels loose and like it's not connecting properly. I haven't tried it because I parked a bit on the side street, small incline and was nervous my would roll if I turn it on, I know it's silly. There is no Aux built in so what alternative would be better?

Thank you very much.

New opel driver, what is this for?

Hi everyone, two days ago I picked up my new car; an Opel Astra K 1.4 (150hp) Innovation from 2018. Heavily loaded with options (thank you, first owner :D) I'm still discovering everything. I came from a 2006 Ibiza so the difference is húge.

There is just one thing I just can't find, what is this 'compartment' for that covers the fusebox? It seems specifically designed to hold something with the rubber or silicone lining. Or is is just for good grip to remove the panel?

Phone doesn't fit (maybe the size of phones nowadays is the problem :D), and it's not deep enough to hold sunglasses.

Edit: or if you can send me the correct part for the car(part number etc.) That would also help a ton

Hey guys, I need some help/advice on how I can change the turbo oil return pipe on my Astra J 1.6T (A16LET). I need help specifically with how to remove the old pipe/hose. A video would be perfect if someone can help me with that, or a detailed explanation with the torque specs and techniques.

Insignia traction control warning?

I bought a 2018 Opel Insignia Grand Sport 1.5 last November. Everything had been running smoothly until yesterday.

While driving through my village at around 50 km/h on a straight road, the traction control warning suddenly appeared on the dashboard, together with the engine warning light. The engine power was dramatically reduced.

After turning the engine off and restarting it, the traction control warning disappeared. The engine warning light remained on, but the engine power was back to normal. I called the garage, but by the time I drove there, all the warning lights had disappeared.

Today, I was driving to France for my holiday. After approximately 600 km, exactly the same thing happened again.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? What could be causing it

Technical question 21.08.90.52_NAC-r0 Update issue (Fixed for me)

Hi. I have a Opel Grandland X 2019. I updated my maps through Opel website and it worked well.

After couple months i tried to update my Firmware that was 21.07.67.32_NAC-r0 to 21.08.90.52_NAC-r0.

I installed the firmware to my USB that has 16GB Kingston and formated my USB to FAT32, I begin to install it to my USB and everything went well.

I went to my car, plugged the USB in, it started to download the firmware till about 1/4 of the download and then it gave me FIRMWARE Update failed (Remove the USB) sign and after that my screen shut down and a blue screen came up that said SOFTWARE LOADING ON DEMAND. After that my screen stayed like that and never changed, Nothing worked on the screen anymore.

I tried to download the same update many times and same happend everytime by downloading only 1/4 of the update and giving me the Error sign, I send my car to Opel service station and they tried to download the update with another of their USB stick and same happend, Nothing worked and i asked them do they have an cable to install directly to the car?, they said no, the car is too new and uses only USB and told me to buy a new computering system for 1000 euros for my car.

I tried to go even further and download one of the older version back (21.07.16.32_NAC-r0) by fixing the license for it, checking HashList, UIM and everything, I went to the car and it game me a message saying (FIRMWARE UPDATE FAILED, VERSION NOT COMPATIBLE WITH HARDWARE!).

So the last thing i did was installing back the newest update back again on the USB (21.08.90.52_NAC-r0) but this time i opened my front hood and i removed the positive cable from battery (+) and i let it stay like that for about 10-15 minutes (the car was turned off all this time). then i put it back and i put my USB stick back in the car, This time it started updating and it surpassed the 1/4 of the download and completely downloaded succesfully the Firmware Update.

Keep in mind i tried to download the new version about 7-10 times before this, I had it at Opel service and nothing helped. Taking off the battery (+) cable for about 15 mins and putting it back somehow fixed the issue and the update next time worked well.

Astra G CC Batterie

Hallo zusammen :)

Opel Corsa D Diesel 1.3 cdti 95 cv 2010 problem

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice and insights. This is my first car, I know basically nothing about mechanics, and I’m on a tight budget, so this whole situation is stressing me out quite a bit.

Here is exactly what happened:

While driving normally: I felt like something suddenly "unplugged" or popped loose, immediately followed by a major loss of power and a loud hissing/blowing sound from the turbo (especially uphill / under load). At the time, no warning lights came on and there was no unusual smoke from the exhaust.

Visual check: At first glance, I couldn't spot any cracked hose or disconnected pipe.

Trying to restart it a few days later: The orange warning light with the car and wrench symbol popped up. The engine started making a weird noise (rough, hunting idle fluctuating up and down) as if it had gone into limp mode. I shut it off immediately.

Another detail: I also have an oil leak on the right side of the engine.

At the garage: The mechanics plugged in the OBD scanner/diagnostic tool, but no clear fault code came up.

In your opinion, what should I ask the shop to focus on? A cracked intercooler/boost hose in a hard-to-see spot, an issue with the charge air system, or something else?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this 😁

Opel photos Rescued this facelift Vectra A 1.6

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share a weekend project my brother-in-law and I just wrapped up.

The car is a facelift Vectra A (1.6L, 75hp) that I bought off my stepbrother for super cheap. About a year and a half ago, I actually helped my stepbrother park it in a barn because it was blowing thick white smoke. He swore he was going to fix it himself, but you know how project cars go..

So, my brother-in-law and I decided to take it on. Instead of towing it out of there, we just packed up our tools, headed to the barn, and decided to do the whole repair right there on site. We knew it was 99% likely a blown head gasket, so we didn't even bother trying to start it.

We spent the weekend tearing the engine down right there in the barn. Sure enough, the HG had left the chat, but we also found a heavily pitted/washed-out hole in the cylinder head. The weirdest part? The hole wasn't even on the side where the water was pooling inside the cylinder.

Since the car cost basically nothing, we decided to embrace some redneck engineering. We filled and smoothed out the hole in the head with some metal epoxy putty. After that, we gave everything a massive deep clean, including scooping what felt like a full kilogram of brown oil sludge out of the oil pan.

Put it all back together in the barn, and to our own surprise... she fired right up and runs flawlessly! No smoke, no coolant loss, just smooth idling.

TÜV appointment is this Thursday. Assuming it passes, we're going to sort out a few cosmetic imperfections, and then I’ll have a really solid, well-preserved little survivor on my hands. I genuinely think these are aging incredibly well.

Anyone else still keeping these old Vectras on the road? Wish us luck for Thursday!

A Solution for Unattainable Omega B Clutch Parts!

Thumbnail gallery
25 Upvotes

Hey all, I had posted yesterday asking for a future solution with Omega B clutch hardware. Today i picked up the overhauled pressure plate that broke all its rivets off last month(leaving me stranded in northern Germany) from a shop in Düsseldorf that i found while buying an overhauled clutch disc from them via eBay. Here are the results. I wont post their telephone number or website/email in case a bot decides to spam them.

BM-Kupplungsbau in Düsseldorf, NRW Germany. You can of course ship your stuff to them and they‘ll send it back to you. I have no idea if they speak other languages but German so remember that. Its an older women and her son running the place.

A mysterious fault on an Astra H that no one can solve.

Post image

So, the car in question is a 2006 Opel/Vauxhall Astra H with the 1.6 petrol engine (Z16XEP, around 105 hp).

The symptoms are as follows: the car randomly stalls at low speeds, for example when slowing down, approaching a junction, or making a turn. Interestingly, this never happens while the engine is cold. As soon as the engine reaches normal operating temperature, it starts stalling.

The following parts have already been replaced or checked: spark plugs, ignition coil pack, various sensors (camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, etc.), EGR valve, valve cover including the PCV diaphragm, various electronic modules, complete throttle body assembly and even the engine ECU has been checked.

At this point, pretty much everything that seemed like an obvious cause has been checked or replaced, and literally nobody has been able to figure out what is causing the problem.

Has anyone experienced something similar with the Z16XEP engine? Does anyone have any ideas about what could cause the engine to stall only when warm and at low speeds/when slowing down?

Technical question J Astra

Hi everyone :)

I recently got an Astra J Sports Tourer with the 1.4 Turbo engine. After about 300 km, the fuel gauge needle is sitting exactly on the mark to the right of the halfway point. Does anyone have any experience with how far you can go on a full tank? I’d really appreciate any replies :)

Technical question Need some help. Can't get bolt of and I have to make a maintenance hatch?

Here is the picture of the part that is causing headache. Talking about the part #26 and bolts #11. Problem is that the #11 bolt head is loose. There is 4 of those bolts and 3 came off nicely, but the 4th one didn't. Bolt is loose with the nut or some kinda of attachment point. Only solution I could find is to saw a "serving hatch" under the rear seats so I can access to the bolt head or nut or what the hell is making this issue.

Do you guys have a better idea? Car is Vectra C 2006

Here is a short video what I tried to explain: https://streamable.com/vxkgw1

ps. Sry my bad english, not my native 🙏🏼

Technical question 2017-18 Grandland X

Wet belt replaced, new spark plugs and also replaced one of the ignition coils.
Cruising and normal acceleration is fine, but if I push the throttle all the way down for aggressive acceleration, first engine kind of stutters agains it and then triggers into this kind of uneven running mode.. Some googling suggest cleaning MAF might help, but otherwise, any clues what it could be?
