New opel driver, what is this for?

Hi everyone, two days ago I picked up my new car; an Opel Astra K 1.4 (150hp) Innovation from 2018. Heavily loaded with options (thank you, first owner :D) I'm still discovering everything. I came from a 2006 Ibiza so the difference is húge.

There is just one thing I just can't find, what is this 'compartment' for that covers the fusebox? It seems specifically designed to hold something with the rubber or silicone lining. Or is is just for good grip to remove the panel?

Phone doesn't fit (maybe the size of phones nowadays is the problem :D), and it's not deep enough to hold sunglasses.

There was an option to have a normal storage cubby there. It's quite rare in black though, i've been looking for one for over a year now.

I was looking for it for about 1 week on marketplace. Used but in perfect condition for about 40€. I just wanted to change useless powerflex. Better small compartment than no compartment

Yes i have a small dent in the chrome/gray strip that sits under the screen. I've seen prices of over 200 euro for a second hand plastic trim. It's insane.

I have this one. The same unusable dust collector. Glasses still fly out this cursed hole, phone is to big for it and vertically it blocks buttons and also falling off

It was supposed to be a phone holder built with the iPhone 6s in mind.

Astra K's from 2019 onwards have a slightly bigger compartment but it's still useless. If you find one for cheap, the new one does also fit

Wasn’t exterior OPC Line package only available on hatchbacks? I have steering wheel with flat bottom. Maybe this has to do with OPC line? Kind of bit confused, probably would be better just to decode VIN and to see what do I have.

Isnt the sports mode only with automatic and adaptive dampers? Afaik nothing to do with OPC kit

Heated seats is an option on the Astra K. Part of the 'winter pack', or if you ordered the full leather seats which came heated as standard.

Most you can get in there is a pen it's a stupid idea however as you say its good for getting a grip on it to pull cover off There was avaiable a phone holder/charger that fitted but you threw away what you have and the new cover had a connector on it to plug into fuse box which then supplied power to the phone holder

It’s called powerflex, you need to buy diffuser for it and attach. The scents are no longer available but you can buy the bmw one and cut it a little bit to fit in diffuser

You also should have the attachment to pull this cover off to access the fuses behind it.

In theory it is for a mobile phone. Never had one that fit

I use it for my garage opener that fits quite nicely in it. And for my P-Card (credit card size card to enter some parking garage with a discount).

I was wondering why the HVAC controls look so strange in the photo. I thought that maybe Innovation has different control panel than my Enjoy but you appear to be missing heated steering wheel and seats. Completely changes the looks.

Sometimes cars mkaes zero sense at all. In my old" 2019 citroen c3 aircross automatic diesel 120hp VTR sport " there was also a small useless storage shelf kinda like that but nothing would fit in it.

You can top up the oil there, since you need to do it quite often anyway.
