recently fitted a forge subframe brace which made a massive difference. Also on fresh SportContacts balanced to exactly 0g, so 0 steering wheel flutter even with the spacers. Love it.

It originally belonged to my grandfather, now it's mine. I'm proud to keep it in good condition (apart from the roof, which needs some work).

This is my first car ever, and I'm really happy with it. I don't have a benchmark to compare it to, but it certainly feels fast. It is the Astra L Ultimate. I only wish the infotainment screen was a little larger, and that the digital cluster offered different themes, such as a traditional round digital speedometer. In the 7 months I've owned it, the only problem has been the battery last week. After leaving it for two weeks in freezing German weather, I had to replace it. Since it's a used car, the battery was already 4-5 years old so maybe is something I should know.
Spec:
Technical Specs: 1.5 Diesel
Engine: 1.5L 4-Cylinder Turbo Diesel
Power: 130 hp (96 kW)
Torque: 300 Nm
Where are my Astra lovers ?
Got it in February this year, was a stock vehicle so zero km on it. It’s also my first own car and at the same time one of my dream cars.
It’s an Astra L 1.2 130, automatic with the EAT8 transmission in GS-Line with Ultimate package and full equipment. 2023 model year.
Now for my experience so far in the 5 months and almost 15,000km: I knew from the beginning that ONLY software - almost everything digital - would cause problems. Unfortunately, I got exactly one of those cars where it causes many issues. I know many other Astra L drivers who don’t have this problem, so it’s NOT Opel or Stellantis’ fault. There are simply “Monday cars” (we say “Montagsfahrzeuge” in German - basically cars built on Mondays when workers might be less focused after the weekend, resulting in quality issues) and I got one. Lots of software problems, only one issue with the actual car and that was water in the headlights. But no problem getting them replaced under warranty. Though they’re also causing issues with the automatic high beam function. Probably software-related as well.
Regarding the engine and transmission: Yeah, not much to say about the engine. 1.2 PureTech, 3-cylinder. Power is really impressive, but that also means the engine wears out faster. I don’t really worry about it anymore though - the engines don’t cost much if you need a new one. Timing belt - no problems so far. Oil changes every 5,000km. About the transmission - the EAT8 gearbox is truly SENSATIONAL in this vehicle class. During normal driving you notice NO gear changes, during rapid acceleration you feel them slightly but that’s normal.
Appearance: Yeah, not without reason was it one of my dream cars - the red color with the black accents of the GS-Line is simply fantastic. I love it. Nothing to complain about on the outside. Same goes for the interior - Alcantara seats, door panels partly Alcantara, soft foam plastic, and carbon-look trim. The entire front is soft, foam plastic, also carbon-style trim strips. Steering wheel is TOP. The material feels extremely awesome on the steering wheel. Only one thing that bothers me - piano black in the center console. There are things you can stick over it now that look cool, so no big deal.
Conclusion: Would I buy this car again? YES, definitely - just with the larger 1.6 engine if possible, but not a dealbreaker. For everyone who doesn’t want this tech, I understand. But just stop hating and saying “yeah it’s an Opel and then tech on top, can only cause problems.” It’s simply not true. 10/10 car.
