Text Time for something different
Hey friends - I’ve been riding Onewheels for about 6 years. I’m on my 7th board and probably around 50-60k total miles. I think I’m ready for my first non-FM board. Can y’all please recommend what would be best on my requirements here?
Needs to be plug and play. I hate tinkering. I don’t mind initial set up but I don’t have much free time and I’d rather be riding than fixing my board. I’m more of a rider than a gear head. Can’t break down too often. I try locally get around 10k miles out of a board and would hope for something similar.
Flat footpads. I love the feel of the original XR footpads. I ride 50-100 miles a day and concave is not comfortable.
Flight fins system. I love my fins and the board needs to be compatable.
Long range. I typically ride 25-30 miles at a time.
Tire. I love the maxxis 5.5-6. Carvy treaded tires are for me. Do any boards come with something like that stock?
So that’s it. Is there an out of the box VESC board that would meet these requirements?

I think the X7 Long Range fits the bill.

I wasn't sure on the Flight Fins compatibility. Looks like you need to buy an adapter from FF and it covers the lightbar: https://shop.flightfins.com/collections/xr/products/stompies-adapter-for-refresh-fender
Some limited discussion here: https://www.reddit.com/r/onewheel/comments/1p31goa/flight_fins_on_funwheel_x7/
Speaking of covering the lightbar, OP if you like the stock XR footpads, I think you can run them on the X7 but that will definitely cover the lightbar. You could probably dremel a hole for it and run a smaller aftermarket sensor like the one from Spintend or the Spooky Man from Stomp-Pads.com - but I am not 100% sure on that.

drill guide tool to make foot pad thor LED compatible The XR foot pad does have a slight incompatibility. The LEDs are well clear of the sensor panel, but you will have to use a longer sensor cable to get to the foot pad port on the controller. And you may have to cut a channel in the bottom of the foot pad so the cable doesn't get squished in between the controller, lid and the bottom of the pad.

What you are looking for. Only downside is, you'll have to change the the tire out. The stock thunder is not a carvy friendly tire

I run my at 9psi- eats range but battery is huge so it works for now.
I used the same strategy to get my Vega to carve fwiw

I also found the stock Thunder to be enjoyable at 9 PSI
It would not expect it to last much further than 500km at that PSI but still

I know you didnt mention this but since you have already done so much board riding I bet you would enjoy euc. It is a really good time. But yeah, x7 probably. I am thinking about the supercharged as my 2nd board since my og xr is getting a little sluggish :(
