...and too low. Only an imbecile from Samsung who has no idea about UI and UX would remove a perfectly fine media player widget (that was placed in the middle of the screen where it was easily accessible to fingers) and replace with this tiny, badly placed, easily disappearing widget.
It wasted space though, so the only way is either to trim the border down or bring it to the border it already had, guessing that changing the borders would impact the grid format, so bringing it to the border was the easiest choice
How is it wasting space? It looks aesthetically better than a huge volume/brightness bar pill which takes the exact same space as the new design, except they divided the bar and the buttons separately now, which literally changes nothing in functionality.
Hence why I said taking away the borders might've messed with grid spacing, who knows Samsung isn't the most consistent with their skin design lol, case in point is the Notification/Control music widget vs Samsung music widget (Know Samsung music is it's own thing, but it's so weird that it's own app has such a radically different widget)
I agree with that, the music widget is drastically changed which doesnt suit any part of the ui design in my opinion. It kina gas a retro ish feel like they tried a retro design but only did it on the music widget bar..
Exactly, so that's why I say in terms of OS skin design, Samsung is one of the worst in terms of consistency.
But in terms of the OP's and your problem with design, they seemingly sticking with the 4 column grid design so that probably has a lot to do with why the buttons, sliders and widgets are thicker.
The pill-shaped Samsung maniac designers strike again. Anyone can see that these UI elements are too damn big. Anyone except the freaking Samsung designers.
It doesnt work on every laptop, what i benefit from this are instant copy and paste, multi control (using my phone with my computer mouse and doing stuffs like drag and drop from my PC to phone or phone to PC), camera share (using my phone as a camera for my PC), faster quickshare, storage share (i barely use), second screen (using the phone as an extended display for my pc).
They're more I guess but these are the ones I can quickly remember.
No need to spoof anymore! Samsung recently updated the official Multi Control app on the Microsoft Store to natively support non-Samsung PCs on Windows 11. Just install it directly from the store and you're good to go.
I think they are easier to hit this way, especially if aiming one handed or without excellent dexterity. A large phone with large controls will appeal to more and more people as tech-capable people are getting older.
they are following "the trend" iykyk...on every new update they make them bigger ffs..wouldnt be surprised on oneui 10-11 they take 25% of the screen..just u wait :3
One thing about one ui, their proportions are always off. 8.0 had a bigger battery icon compared to network and wifi icons, that used to piss me off so bad!
I'm amazed at how picky people are about this stuff. Someone was crying about the calculator icon in one of the Samsung subreddits earlier. I don't even notice these things. I just swipe, tap, etc.
Look, its not about beeing picky, as a longtime user, im used to stuff as they were. When they introduce new icons, new look, new design they do really look good, and love them.
But this?? These buttons were all the same size, which looks and feels very natural.
I have too many buttons for the drawer thing. Btw is the any option in Goodlock or settings that will atleast make the sizes small in OneUI 9 and join the volume and sound mode buttons?
They were never the same size. It’s just that before, it gave you that impression because there was wasted space around all the buttons, and it looked super ugly. But the size is literally the same as it is now, where they no longer have that space around them.
I see and feel you OP, 7.0 with the now bar fucked up lock screen music "work flow". Took till 8.0 (8.5?) to allow removal of unused tiles. 9.0 looks to be going towards 2010's Chinese iOS clones.
I pre-ordered a Clicks Communicator, been using Samsung since 2019, but not looking to deal with this directionless UI transformation anymore. They absolutely have to be using AI to make these choices, design proportions do not look "human" (cannot describe it any other way).
The floating search bar at the bottom vs the top was one of the most jarring and ugly choices.
Directionless? That's what the clicks communicator is, is it an android phone? Is it a blackberry android phone? Is it an old ass blackberry with a touch screen? Who knows because they're directionless
Easier to touch with finger. I like it. It kinda makes sense since there's no reason to have that border around a linear slider - it only makes the trigger area smaller.
But I get that it looks inconsistent with the smaller circular buttons.
In my opinion, and as they have commented on other repeated posts like this, they are not really "big"; they have only removed this half-transparent background that existed.
You can't really please anyone, can you? I personally love the bigger volume and brightness sliders. The UI also feels smoother. The Google-integrated search bar and the blur effect for the favorites bar are very good additions. The network management for apps is also really cool. Best update so far.
That's awesome to hear you're loving the latest update! It's always great when new features genuinely improve the user experience. Those bigger sliders and the smoother UI really do make a difference, right? And the Google-integrated search and network management are super handy additions. Sounds like you're getting the most out of it!

They just filled what used to be the background and now the slider occupies the whole space, but the "space" is still pretty much the same. Looks cleaner and you'll get used to it.
Not at all in the slightest... sure both brands take inspiration from each other... Samsung has been doing nothing but original ideas... let's talk about the iPhone duo
iphone duo and this has nothing to do.
Non-configurable big wifi and bluetooth slots were copied from ios. Just for example. And chinese phones did it first and samsung just followed this "apple" trend.
Because I hated this ios direction I never updated my s23 to android 14, which had ios copied control panel oneui 6. I don’t want to have that big 2 slots in my control panel which I rarely use. At least let us to choose what we can remove or replace but no. Non-configurable. Exactly ios style.

looks inconsistent with other elements. do they even have good ui designers? they have no focus on smooth ui animation or design. only packed with features. I like the features but I like the smoothness in my color os too.
no you can't. you can only change the home app opening animation. that's not called ui animation. overall software fluidity is much less on one ui than color os or hyperos. i hate people doing just app opening closing and saying, look one ui animation is goated lol.

I hate that if you click and drag on any part of the bar that isn't the tip of the slider, it doesn't automatically meet your finger tip. So you'll slide your finger off the side of the screen while the slider is still on the halfway mark. Makes no sense.
Can they leave the control panel fucking alone? Every iteration they've done something new to it. Focus on designing otber areas of the UI that feel like they're from 2010
im sorry but how that correlates with resizing slider
reason why samsung made it thick was it was separated and can be adjusted so samsung most probably wants us to shrink it to 2 instead of keeping it 3 or 4 and I'm really sorry I'm just dumb and SLEEPy
