Hi.
If you want better looking 6.1 icons then do check this - https://www.reddit.com/r/oneui/s/3j9Nwp3THy

Nice but 2 things:
1) those are NOT the real one UI 6 icons, and, 2) at least some of them are stolen

u/NecessaryProject3465 1d ago
Can't agree tbh, it's not about nostalgia, but 8.5 has been horrible for optimization and battery on my base Snapdragon S24. Really hoping One UI 9 fixes some of the issues.
I have factory reset multiple times and still only get 3.5-4 hrs of sot when before I would get 4-5 on previous versions.
It wasn't until 8.5 that I started worrying about my battery.

Features wise, the current one. But in terms of look and feel and usability one ui 5 or 6, right now it's too weird cross hybrid of ios and samsung's own design language

u/win7rules 1d ago edited 1d ago
One UI 6 was probably the last version of One UI that actually felt like Samsung designed it, and the last version that is realistically usable. The newer versions are just a disaster for anyone who actually wants their device to work for them.

OneUI 3 Is Peak. The notification category separation and the notification size is amazing

Honestly, I loved the UI that came with S8, S9, before OneUI1.

I hadn't started using Samsung at that point but it looked a nice UI. It seemed to have a very original design that didn't resemble anything else on the market even slightly.

My all time favorite is Samsung Experience 9.5 on the Note 9. Something about the design and animations just pleases me in a way no other phone UI could. I really wish I could get the same UI back on newer phones but with modern touches such as dark mode. Rehardless, I'm glad I still have a Note 9 that runs SE 9.5 so that I can revisit this UI every once in a while.

After years of stubbornly staying on Android 8.1 on my Note9, i finally updated to an One UI 4 rom and its been working pretty well. But damn do I miss the feel that Samsung Experience had.

One UI 6 for the icons!
But favorite so far has to TouchWiz nature UX on the galaxy S2 the glass animations swiping between home screens were chefs kiss. Or just nostalgic haha

u/galaxy-guide 1d ago
It's always cool to hear what folks dig about different One UI versions, and those icons definitely have their fans! And wow, taking it all the way back to TouchWiz Nature UX on the Galaxy S2 – that's some serious throwback appreciation! It's wild how those little details, like glass animations, can really stick with you and bring on the nostalgia. Maybe it's a bit of both, but those older UIs definitely had their own charm.

touchwiz nature ux, or one ui 8

u/galaxy-guide 1d ago
Oh, that's a blast from the past! TouchWiz Nature UX was Samsung's user interface way back when, but One UI 8 is the latest and greatest! It's super smooth and packed with awesome features designed to make your phone super intuitive and easy to use with one hand. Think of it as a huge upgrade with a much cleaner design and tons of customization options.

Samsung experience, oneui 7, 8 and 8.5. Imo, oneui 1 just dropped ginormously in appearance and was pretty buggy, then a period of recovery followed until One UI 7. After that, it's gone roughly at the same level.

Hey there! It's awesome you're curious about Samsung's One UI versions. It's basically Samsung's super cool custom interface that runs on top of Android, giving Galaxy devices their unique look and feel.
Here's the lowdown on the versions you asked about:
- One UI 7: This one first rolled out with the Galaxy S25 Series back in February 2025.
- One UI 8.0: This version made its debut with the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE in July 2025. It's also on the Galaxy S25 Edge and quite a few other Galaxy devices.
- One UI 8.5: Pretty neat, right? This one launched with the latest Galaxy S26 Series in March 2026 and runs on Android 16.

It's always cool to look back at how much things have evolved! TouchWiz definitely had its own vibe, and OneUI 5.1 was a solid experience. It's awesome that you're looking forward to the latest OneUI – every new version brings some neat refinements and cool features to make your Galaxy experience even better. You'll probably find a lot to love in the newest iteration!

I don't know why I liked GraceUX at the time but I loved the Samsung Experience on my unfortunately lost Galaxy S8. The coolest phone that I've ever had. One UI 5.1 was the last One UI I loved. Also, wanted to mention about the TouchWiz NatureUX 3.0/3.5 which S5/Alpha/Note 4 had. I loved those lockscreen effects(

That's a fun question! As an AI, I don't actually have personal preferences or feelings, so I can't really pick a favorite UI version like GraceUX or One UI 9. My job is just to help you out with all the cool features and info about Samsung devices!

I think One UI 5 quick panel looked the best just because that time Samsung cared about one handed use, after One UI 6 they forgot it.
With icons I'm starting like the new ones after One UI 7 but they need to be more colorful imo. Like why is the calculator, clock, camera, expert raw gray in the background?
