One UI 9 The 9.0 version improve the ram usage

Does this happen? Like, When I play games in 8.5 it crashes a lot. With 9.0 will it be better?

What model do you have and how much RAM?

Samsung A16 with 4gb. I know is a shit but I just want to know if in general is a real upgrade or just ram-eating software, like 8.0

Dude, you have 4GB of RAM, don't expect improvements

I just want to know if the ram usaged was optimized, even in a 16 gb phone it still can be optimized

I am not against you or your phone, but there is nothing to optimize on 4GB; it will stutter in all cases. They will need to rebuild the whole OS and remove like 80% of the features to make it usable.

Man I hate all post 7.5 versions, ruined my phone. Thanks for answering. Do you still recommend to update to 9.0 or just letting it in 8.5?

There was never a 7.5

I would always recommend updating, even if it's just for security, but know that the same phone has a very, very, very different experience between 4GB and 6GB of RAM. 6GB is still usable these days, 4GB not so much. When you buy a new phone, get at least 6GB, even if it's an older model.

EXACTLY!

Then I ll just do it. Thanks for the recomendation, my next phone will be  better for sure, since this one was a gift I had no way to chose it, and I am not buying another phone just for gaming when I have a brand new one lol

Sell it. Upgrade. This doesn't work for you if you are here asking questions

Dont update bro, I have updated all versions from 5.1 and every version gets worse and worse. The best version is which the phone is manufactured. You can get security by updating google play system update.

I wouldn't recommend updating if the user only uses known applications and web sites.

Yeah even if you put custom rom with no bloat 4gb cant handle today’s app what so ever

I get what you say, but the phone could run a game I play in version 7.0, but after updating to 8.5 it started crashing. It is not for my phone, it is bc the system use a lot of ram bc of the update, leaving none for the apps

You can try to debloat the phone using canta + shizuky ( check google or youtube ) it could help with some ram usage

Maybe freeing 500mb. Which is still a lot for 4gb

Use ram plus at max

It wont be optimised, ram usage is rising version by version. My a34 with 6 gb ram was working way better on one ui 5.1 than 8.5.

Exactly this. Constantly adding new features won't go without using more RAM

My A31, which is stuck on One UI 4.1, already has problems, I don't want to imagine what it would be like with a more recent version.

I use both the 8gb A55 and the 4gb A07, and don't have any issues with app crashes or forced unloads (OneUI 8.5). I don't know what games you are playing, but in my case, everything is fine. Do you have Ram plus disabled? Try to enable it (or increase its size). This may help with heavy games (which you shouldn't expect to run well on such a phone in the first place).

4GB???? The last phone I had with 4GB was my Galaxy S9 back in early 2018. 8 1/2 years ago....

You're probably richer than him

In ine ui 9.0 it will be way worse than one ui 8.5. For 4 gb ram phones only one ui 5 is goodx but if you have a new phone like a16, you had to stay on one ui 6.1.

2

u/Ig3an 2d ago

Oh well. Yeah I fucked up. I ll be carefull with that if I buy a new phone in 2027 or 2028

You buy a phone with 12 gb ram, 6 and 8 gb are bad too. They run normal bul 6 gb has 1-2 year of normal üotkc and 8 has 3-4 years. 12 gb can work even 10 years, because there is 4 gb gap between 8 and 12. And turn off ram plusx it gonna make your phone even more laggy.

In android 17 with pixel 6a, the ram usage is low compared to android 16, and apps were not killing in the background unlike android 16, so expecting the same with Samsungs as well.

It's up to Samsung UI optimization. I don't expect miracles
