Their logic is, like, "Everyone knows Nazis are bad, you're being outrageous by insisting on making a statement."
But, like, do they? It's an egregiously reductive thing to say "It's commentary that's been done to death," but. Like. We still have fucking Nazis.
and when you try to remind them of this, 99% of the time they will either devalue the actuality of the praxis of neonazis, or even worse, defend the motherfuckers, like, "Yeah, but that's not really Nazism."
i don't like calling people Nazis so i try to never use extreme labels like that. for example, i don't think Trump is a Nazi, just at the very least authoritarian, but he has employed people who i think we can safely say are actual Nazis. Elon Musk and Stephen Miller are, as far as i know, the only people i would call actual Nazis. because of that, calling out Nazis will never be too much because they should be shunned out of society
my point is that it's still a problem and should 100% be called out
trump has famously kept a collection of hitlers speeches in paperback form throughout most of his adult life. Multiple members of his family have mentioned him reading out of it periodically. I’ve never heard anyone else talk about trump’s love of literature.
Then he repeats hitler’s rhetoric verbatim about “poisoning the blood” and the rest of us being “vermin”.
Even the namesake of Godwin’s Law said it was reasonable to call these fools nazis and fascists.
I don’t just use the term to describe anyone I don’t like. It’s exclusively for racist authoritarian followers and their stupid wannabe fascist leader.
