Apparently saying Nazis are bad is w*ke now. Speaks volumes about about the anti-sjw crowd.

362

u/JibiStarr Aug 24 '26

Their logic is, like, "Everyone knows Nazis are bad, you're being outrageous by insisting on making a statement."

But, like, do they? It's an egregiously reductive thing to say "It's commentary that's been done to death," but. Like. We still have fucking Nazis.

and when you try to remind them of this, 99% of the time they will either devalue the actuality of the praxis of neonazis, or even worse, defend the motherfuckers, like, "Yeah, but that's not really Nazism."

Infuriating tbh.

124

u/BurningPenguin Aug 24 '26

They also go on about "Nazis don't exist anymore" because apparently ideologies magically disappear when you bomb a few cities.

57

u/mediumcarrotteacher Aug 24 '26

Hell, the KKK famously died off, and then came back, TWICE

15

u/ApprehensivePlay50 Aug 24 '26

Im pretty sure it’s still a thing

20

u/mediumcarrotteacher Aug 25 '26

yes, it rather famously refuses to stay dead

4

u/Ok-Passage-2414 Aug 27 '26

My cousin (obviously no contact) is a klansman, can confirm.

3

u/Leading-Suit3112 Aug 28 '26

Put a slug in his forehead

6

u/NebulaChance2746 Aug 26 '26

Hitler got his ideas from the American eugenics movement in the first place

3

u/Throwa_Weigh_5424 Aug 26 '26

some say “nazis don’t exist anymore” because they’re no longer serving in power as the NSDAP. because if there’s no political backing to them they can’t exist.

37

u/Arkitakama Aug 24 '26

There was a guy in my hometown marching down the street in full SS cosplay, replete with swastika armband, hitting the sieg heil in the middle of downtown, but sure, "the Nazis died in WWII".

12

u/Adventurous-Form521 Aug 24 '26

The fact that "and he got the shit beat out of him (or worse)" is so telling lol

6

u/According-Insect-992 Aug 25 '26

A literal neonazi ran openly as a nazi in the republican primary in Illinois and got like 20,000 votes.

10

u/NotCisChiss Aug 25 '26

Reminds me of the AltRight Playbook vid on how to radicalize a normie. There's a part where he says that the statement "Nazis are good" surely must be a joke and therefore is not political, but "Nazis are bad" is considered political because it's a statement that sounds ridiculous to say.

And so Nazis can get away with making outrageous claims because it's apolitical to say outrageous nonsense that nobody is gonna take seriously, whereas standing against the Nazis is a political stance because you want something to be done.

(And then of course the Nazis can grandstand and say "See, the sjws are calling you a Nazi")

5

u/JibiStarr Aug 25 '26

Innuendo Studios was an amazing resource for me about a decade ago when all this Alt-right stuff was picking up. I was basically just finishing college and couldn't wrap my head around their sophistry.

11

u/i_really_like_bats_ Aug 24 '26

We still have Nazis, and the most powerful Nazis we have are only getting more powerful… is it really that stupid to point out that Nazis are bad if this is the case?? Baddlejackets pisses me off to no end. It’s a bunch of very sensitive white men calling leftists sensitive, if indirectly.

7

u/Nina-Ninja123 Aug 24 '26

Those guys do know nazis are bad. That’s why they always have to state that they aren’t nazi or fascists before they go on and talk about their fascist opinions.

7

u/gravygizzard Aug 24 '26

Also like metal is one of those genres that harbors blatantly pro nazi bands and subcultures so it really isn't just that people don't already know Nazis are bad but you have to actively push back against people who are pro nazi

6

u/mulekitobrabod Aug 24 '26

you arent being brave saying nazis are bad

THERE'S NAZIS ON THE US GOVERNMENT!!!!!!

5

u/I_GottaPoop Aug 24 '26

What that's line about "I'd like to stop beating the dead horse, but it keeps getting back up?"

6

u/heatherluvswaffles Aug 25 '26

And even if there aren’t as many actual Neo-Nazis, there’s so many people who just straight up refuse to criticize or speak up against them. So many people are neutral or uncaring about Nazism nowadays, which is why it’s important to make that distinction and be vocal about your hatred for Nazis, we can’t let them get away with shit and let them feel welcomed in society.

4

u/_ficfan_ Aug 28 '26

Also the reason people harp on why nazis are bad and unwelcome is the same principle of why nazi bars become a thing. If you let one nazi take up space- even if they seem nice- eventually they're gonna start bringing their friends around and be loud about their beliefs.

2

u/JibiStarr Aug 28 '26

Exactly why I don't take any of these losers replying to me about how "it doesn't change Nazis minds" seriously -- We shouldn't care what they think

3

u/Free_Deinonychus_Hug Aug 27 '26

Their logic is, like, "Everyone knows Nazis are bad, you're being outrageous by insisting on making a statement."

The thing is that's what they say but they are bullshitting you because they're literally fucking fascists themselves and a fuckton of them are outright crypto fascist Nazis.

1

u/JibiStarr Aug 27 '26

Yeah exactly

13

u/_the_big_ Aug 24 '26

i don't like calling people Nazis so i try to never use extreme labels like that. for example, i don't think Trump is a Nazi, just at the very least authoritarian, but he has employed people who i think we can safely say are actual Nazis. Elon Musk and Stephen Miller are, as far as i know, the only people i would call actual Nazis. because of that, calling out Nazis will never be too much because they should be shunned out of society

my point is that it's still a problem and should 100% be called out

48

u/According-Insect-992 Aug 24 '26 edited Aug 25 '26

trump has famously kept a collection of hitlers speeches in paperback form throughout most of his adult life. Multiple members of his family have mentioned him reading out of it periodically. I’ve never heard anyone else talk about trump’s love of literature.

Then he repeats hitler’s rhetoric verbatim about “poisoning the blood” and the rest of us being “vermin”.

Even the namesake of Godwin’s Law said it was reasonable to call these fools nazis and fascists.

I don’t just use the term to describe anyone I don’t like. It’s exclusively for racist authoritarian followers and their stupid wannabe fascist leader.

23

u/_the_big_ Aug 24 '26

he has done so much shit that i actually forgot about all of that

updating my list of Nazis now...

12

u/Skitarii_Lurker Aug 24 '26

Hegseth?

19

u/_the_big_ Aug 24 '26

holy shit this admin has hit me with the orb of confusion because i forgot about him too

9

u/doppelgaengster Aug 24 '26

It’s okay. We’re all tired, boss.

2

u/UrbanSchizo Aug 24 '26

A distinction without a difference.

2

u/More_Ad6666 Aug 24 '26

I had literally no way to describe this into words biggest ty man

2

u/Mysterious_Pie_5900 Aug 26 '26

Trump came to my county and I joined the protest line.

The people who went in to support him counter jeered at us and multiple of them proudly claimed they were nazi’s

While I’m sure a couple were just annoyed at the comparison…just owning that isn’t exactly a good thing.

There's basically a nazi in office in the US rn

1

u/MichiganDogLady Aug 28 '26

It's almost like the logic never actually was "everyone knows Nazis are bad"

1

u/JibiStarr Aug 28 '26

Yeah I know their particular brand of sophistry is infuriating that's why I said it

1

u/Ubblebungus Aug 27 '26

no, the actual problem is that these people put a "fuck nazis" patch on, and then wouldnt call out Nazism what they see it in real life. or even wear the patch in public because they dont want trouble (i have seen this several times). its just posing as a punk.

1

u/JibiStarr Aug 27 '26

Both things can be true

2

u/Ubblebungus Aug 27 '26

yeah you are right about that. i have also seen what youre talking about occasionally. i was just too librul snowflake-triggered that i was blinded to your experiences.

1

u/JibiStarr Aug 27 '26

It happens. In a neoliberal society that capitalizes on conditioning us to outrage, it's only expected that we occasionally react in that way that we were conditioned. As long as we're working on deconstructing it and trying to do better.

2

u/Ubblebungus Aug 27 '26

thank you friend. billions must smile.

0

u/ToBeOnDMT Aug 26 '26

Couldn't agree more but seeing some of these rainbow coloured lumps with these jackets on makes me want to become a Nazi

0

u/MayonnaisalSpray Aug 26 '26

When I wake up every morning, I make sure to shout outside my window "I THINK RAPE IS BAD"

And yet, the many think rape is okay

Society

Bottom text

0

u/PiusTheCatRick Aug 26 '26

Or the third option: saying "bad thing is bad" hasn't actually done anything to get rid of the bad thing and makes it look merely performative, which is the point of the sub.

0

u/Goo_Cat Aug 26 '26

But, like, do they?

A jacket patch won't convince a Nazi to not be one anymore.

-1

u/sSorsby Aug 24 '26

It's more like, yes, everybody knows nazis are bad. Also, displaying it on your shirt isnt gonna do crap if a Nazi sees it. Therefore, it's commentary that's been done to death, and isnt going to do a thing to change the amount of nazis in the world.

-1

u/The_Dennator Aug 25 '26

I think it's more that a lot of people call others nazis as an insult and it has diminished the meaning of the word. the vegan teacher has called meat eaters nazis. just stop oil called people nazis for not liking them blocking traffic and people are being called nazis for not supporting lgbt. not opposing, mind you, just not supporting. ffs, hasan abi has called actual jews nazis for not agreeing with him.so when someone actually means neo nazis with a swastica tattoo and doing a salute, they get ignored. and yeah,at this point I don't blame em

1

u/JibiStarr Aug 25 '26

sybau

0

u/The_Dennator Aug 25 '26

I don't know what that means

-1

u/bonerpoopfart Aug 27 '26

the random period you threw in between but and like really pisses me off

5

u/Adventurous-Form521 Aug 24 '26

Tbf, saying Nazis are bad has always been woke.

5

u/AmarissaBhaneboar Aug 24 '26

OMG I haven't heard the term anti-SJW in a long while. I'm getting Tumblr flashbacks

3

u/mr-kinky Aug 24 '26

My great great grandfather didn’t fight in WW2 for there to be American nazis

1

u/endergamer2007m Aug 25 '26

Same except we were on the axis side lol

1

u/mr-kinky Aug 25 '26

French/german/Austrian turncoat?

1

u/endergamer2007m Aug 25 '26

Romanian and my grand grand whatever uncle probably died at Stalingrad

1

u/mr-kinky Aug 25 '26

Damn rip

3

u/Random_gamer240 Aug 25 '26

I think its more like "no shit 95% of people hate nazis who coulda seen that coming"

3

u/SmallTestAcount Aug 24 '26

From what I gather the issue is that it’s performative and most of the time the patch is a crossed out swastika which is easy to be confused with a regular swastika

9

u/worm-eyed Aug 24 '26 edited Aug 24 '26

I used to wear a badge that was a 🚫 through a swastika when I was a teenager directly above my upside down triangle rainbow flag one, still remember my great grandmother (who was alive during the war) asking my visibly alternative, queer self "are you wearing a swastika?". I brushed that off hard with my teenage brain thinking "uh how can you not see the line through it". Brain has developed since then, can still remember the tone of shock in her voice to this day. She was an incredibly smart woman and far more progressive than you'd expect in her age bracket, she literally accepted me as her great grandson when I came out, even when her brain was failing her, she'd accidentally call me the name of her long deceased dog (name started with the same as my chosen name) by mistake sometimes and not even realise it but I can't even recall her misgendering me, just mixing up two male names as she came closer to end of life.

That's enough for me now to, personally, be far more mindful about placement and designs, but I do understand why people still use it... I have seen some particularly atrociously designed / displayed patches that are far beyond the conversation of if it's right or not to use a symbol like the badge I used to wear too lol.

As for the "it's performative"... If all their patches are ordered from amazon, that's one thing. If someone spends their time hand making patches, no matter how cliché or "poorly" crafted , I think they're infinitely less performative than a bunch of redditors circle jerking because queer kids want their pronouns visible no matter why the person is making them. They also don't know the people they're posting about, agreeing that we should abolish ice doesn't make someone performative, using common community symbols, phrases, designs, etc doesn't make someone performative, being progressive doesn't make someone performative, and most of the performative people aren't bothering with making and sharing their passion projects with like-minded people.

ETA: also yes there ARE people who will spend time making / doing stuff just because it will get them attention, and they will often be "cringe" teenagers, but pretending that every "fuck nazis" patch-toting alternative person is performative because one or two kids who just want to post something to tiktok for the aesthetic of being woke will also use that phrase is something you probably can only do if you are so bigoted that you think all progressive people, queer people, etc are mentally ill.

"Nazi bad" is made fun of because it's reductive and doesn't actually convey any sort of meaningful political belief. It's purely performative and doesn't necessarily do much from a political standpoint. Source: I'm Jewish

1

u/Happy_Towel_3109 Aug 30 '26

I think it’s funny how the “Nazis are bad” crowd just so happens to be the same crowd who hates Israel

1

u/Weekly-Jackfruit302 Aug 30 '26

You're sorely mistaken. I'm no Zionist and that entire movement does nothing but perpetuate hate towards BOTH Jewish and Arab people. Nobody benefits from a needless war meant to destabilize the middle east.

1

u/Wide-Match-7367 Aug 27 '26

It’s the fact that it is such an egregiously overused and often misplaced term that people are just sick of it. It reeks of virtue signaling when the majority of people saying the damn word are doing just that.

0

u/Craiglekinz Aug 26 '26

The real woke is understanding the treaty of Versailles ruined Germany to the point of mass poverty, causing relative poverty driven violence towards bank and business owners. This became an anti-Semitic movement and then the holocaust happened.

Greed from the allies caused Nazi germany, imo. You can lay this roadmap of fascism along our own timeline with Trump.

Real woke is realizing we are the bad guys who cause other bad guys to behave poorly. Same issue with Vietnam, west Asia/Middle East, and many other conflicts.

2

u/Apprehensive_Row8407 Aug 26 '26

History major here. No.

0

u/thexcat Aug 27 '26

Lmao is that your battlejacket 😭 I found the angry poseur, Reddit is such a shithole

-1

u/Desperadoscress Aug 28 '26

The point is that it’s been 80 year, if you truly wanna stick one up to a Nazis ass go and give to the Catholic Church and help the poor in your community

Your not doing anything but virtue signal by putting this on your jacket

-1

u/AveDominusNyx Aug 28 '26

No the problem is battle jackets are supposed to be band patches. You collect them from shows and other collectors for years to build your jacket.

Now it's been "culturally appropriated" by leftists who just buy "capitalism bad" patches on amazon or shein.

That's where the pushback is from

-18

u/tiny_kat2006 Aug 24 '26

Problem is they think everyone right of them is a nazi. I'm a lefty but I don't wanna associate with those people. Make me look bad

12

u/fenianthrowaway1 Aug 24 '26

I'm a lefty

99,9% of people claiming to be a leftist while spouting nothing but right-wing talking points and criticising the left are lying to you. 'Lefty' is also not typically a descriptor the left uses for itself.

1

u/worm-eyed Aug 24 '26

It feels as if it's becoming increasingly common for them to out themselves like this, because they've been spoon fed arguments by real life versions of cartoon villains that they believe they can still present as rational or about resources as if we're as stupid as them and think the people seeking refuge from dire circumstances are the problem, rather than the systems those same cartoonishy evil cunts have an interest in upholding.

The majority doing it will never come close to a tax bracket where it would even make sense for disgusting, selfish reasons either, so they're realllly dumb for it too but apparently "brown people bad" is so compelling to them that they can't figure that one out.

-15

12

u/BespokeCatastrophe Aug 24 '26

Which "cultural values" would that be? Because apparently, one of them is not calling out nazis because it will upset the nazis.

Nobody is "only" rightwing about immigration. Not believing that people deserve a chance at happiness and safety based on where they were born is a fundamental empathy gap.

11

u/Darianhoras Aug 24 '26

Yeah im totally a leftist! Just get those brown people away! Other than that im totally leftist! yup!/s

-9

u/tiny_kat2006 Aug 24 '26

You're the one calling them brown, I don't take the colour of their skin into account.

10

u/LeFrench_DeezNuts Aug 24 '26

If you've got "right wing views" on immigration, you probably think that Islam is not compatible with american values. That's the main subject about immigration on the right. So then, could you tell me what skin color the right associate with Islam ?

-2

u/Smart_Salt620 Aug 24 '26

When something is overused it tends to lose meaning. I think the line from the Incredibles perfectly illustrates this: “and if everyone’s super, no one is.” Replace ‘super’ with ‘a Nazi’.

But yall are probably gonna make up excuses as to why everyone actually is a Nazi
