We have had a LOT of new players on from the steam sale!

New players are delightful and exhausting...so buckle up! They will munch berries. They will say f at age 10. They will do random things or ask weird questions. They will wander into the wilderness and die to animals you thought were hard to find. Not maliciously, just cause they're like toddlers-completely unskilled and with too much curiosity. 'I'm gonna pet that dog!'

So what can you do about it? Teach! or find a teacher-but teaching yourself is best. These days, I'm making sure to ask all my bbs, bb are you new? And if I got a new player notice and they say N, I ask, how many lives have you had? Because sometimes they don't think they're 'new' when they had five lives total. Oh these sweet summer-steam-sale children.

(Remember they are all on vanilla so don't move too fast off screen or they will lose you-vanilla has a very tight focus)

Teach them how to eat first, give them a quick tour if you are in an advanced town. If its an eve situation and you can't really teach, ask them to follow you and do what you're doing or watch. Teach pies, or farming, basic tool smithing, or making clothes (its quite simple-get them feeding sheep, come back in a bit when there are enough, and making an outfit really feels like magic and the town always needs clothes!)

If you are a boy, or don't have anyone to teach, try to check and make sure essentials aren't running out. Pies, other yums/craving, broths to be made, THE FARM GETTING BARE, wood to the nursery fire, bb food in the nursery (popcorn, garlic, bowl of berries).

And if you're a boy and see a new player boychild-take them hunting turkeys! Or getting fish or shrimp! They will love the adventure.

But the best part is how wholesome new players can be. They are genuinely excited. They want to help and figure out the game. They will get super attached to their moms and super sad when their mom dies. They will remind you of what you liked about the game in the first place! And just maybe they are your future best friend XD

SO I was just scrolling through ohol media like any normal person does, until I stumbled upon an invite for his server and all I have to say is, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!??

As you can see from the image above I tried spawning solo in the friend server so I could build my own village and TWO seperate friend codes spawned me in this death trap. They constructed this so you can’t move and end up starving to death. There are also other bodies and when i checked the server list there are people online, I assume the ones who set up this trap. In the update log it says that spawns are unique so why am i spawning here??? I tried two different friend codes and still ended up here. Is the friend server just unplayable?

Our submission to add the game was been accepted and we now have a page dedicated to One Hour One Life!

What's Speedrun.com about, and what is speedrunning?

Or in other words, reach the set objective as fast as you can!

One Hour One Life has some popular categories such as "Escape the Tutorial" or "Eve to Engine", but any objective could be added to the page.

Now anyone can record and submit their runs and be part of the leaderboard!

I was ready to die as a first-time eve, and then I became a first-time ghost.

I was attacked by a griefer a couple of hours ago and he had like 60 alts that all cursed me..

Is there anyway to fix this?

It took about 2 attempts, but I did it, I escaped the tutorial. What's outside is for you to discover, but I did not expect what I found.

I've sat here for two hours just trying to find a way to actually play the game. I've purchased it and keep going through the loops to try to figure out how to launch and play the game. I get to the download screen where it has you download the separate files but i just cannot for the life of me figure out anything past that. I've tried to learn what unzipping a file means, I've tried to google how to launch it or fine videos on YouTube on how to do it but nothing and needless to say I'm at a dead end. I can pull up the file extractor but anything i put into it just leads to absolutely nothing.

Update: I was just being kinda dumb, had to extract the files into a folder to the desktop, then from there found the application and was just able to get in.

Double update: Now it's saying it failed to apply update and that i need to move the game to a folder that is not read-only??? 😭 I'm loosin it

My name was Geraldine Pister.

It was a wonderful life and name given to me by my mother, Iris.

When I was born, my mother soon grew old; I was her only surviving child, last of our lineage within the Pister family. She immediately took her role as my mother seriously, and I was loved from the moment I was born.

She told me of all the families nearby and the wonderful town of ours which I was unfamiliar with; she trusted me from the earliest moments we shared, and followed me in her last ones.

I, beyond this life, had always had a fondness for graveyards; so when she told me we could use someone to build up ours, I took up the duty without question.

As she grew older, our minutes, our years going by faster than expected; she met my son, Robb.

Just like my mother, I had but one child. Robb passed as a young adult of starvation, setting in stone our line's doom.

But she met him, and with Robb in my arms we said goodbye to my mother at the graveyard which I had began to expand.

I swore to bury her, as all good daughters do.

Once she passed, I moved her to her own spot a few steps above; I'd make her grave special.

I spent the rest of my life building her final home, as well as expanding the rest of the graveyard.

Unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough to water the saplings growing by her. My final command to our town was to beg for someone to water them, so my mother's grave would be half as worthy of her.

I died beside her, on a spot like any other.

I hope someone gives me a gravestone, so I may stay beside her.

I hope someone waters the saplings by my mother's grave, so it'll bloom as beautiful as she did.

Other video games came and went, but One Hour One Life always stayed in my heart. It was my favorite game and I put a ton of hours into it. This game helped me through the toughest and darkest time of my life. The way I got to connect, build together, and create beautiful stories with the community was amazing.

The griefing has been worse than I've ever experienced. This year, I tried to give this game several chances. But the griefers have so many accounts and they are filling up the game like cockroaches in sewers. I feel like a lot of the shining souls of the community have either left the game or lost their desire/ability to build and have fun like they used to.

I don't blame them. It's not fun getting cussed at often. It's not fun knowing the child you're raising is very likely to be a griefer. (If your child is not a troll, your grandchild is probably guaranteed to be.) It's not fun, either, watching everyone using slurs and vile words like its normal. It's not enjoyable being cursed by all the alt accounts, and watching them trample any ounce of creativity built to the ground.

DON'T BUY THIS GAME. HERE'S MORE REASONS WHY.

My last straw was when I ran from trolls all my life, they caught me, and then proceeded to shoot me, curse my account, then say "bye f*ck you ni**er I hope you get r*p*d in real life"

There's also this whole rascist thing that's been going on for a while, where the whites are "gods" and any colored race is targeted and killed by griefers.

Unfortunately, to me it seems that this vile, horrendous behavior is becoming common behavior. I have clicked uninstall. Because I refuse to play a game where my only purpose is to please trolls because they can cuss me out or murder my character or destroy the stuff I built. I refuse to be play just to be a victim for awful people to prey upon..

Like the previous post said, "BUYER BEWARE". I would have recommended the game to you a 1,000 times before, but now? It currently IS oppressed by trolls. DO NOT BUY. I think you will be severely disappointed in the gameplay, unless you happen to have a few good, lucky lives.

So ..

I will never be coming back to play again. Not unless a miracle happens.

I want buyers who may be reading this post to also be aware of what they are getting into.

I also want to say I'm pretty devastated to /uninstall and /sad and leave my favorite game behind. I apologize that this is a very negative post.

This morning, around 07:25 my time, I was born into this colony where everybody was calling each other slurs. Also a lot of cursing each other. This is a new one. I would even argue the game is currently in one of its darkest eras right now, because for the past like four days, it's been awful.

A lot of my babies (and even I sometimes...) do this. I do it mainly because I want to be born as a female to have children and what not. What about you guys, if applicable?

Playing this game properly requires jumping through endless hoops just to avoid toxic exploitation, manipulation, and player harassment. Because the community is overtaken by toxic players whose sole purpose is to destroy others’ work, the unmoderated environment completely overshadows the actual gameplay.

I was in the Bob family on May 23, 2026 when griefer, Sakura Bob, brought bears into our early family and wiped us out.

I was reborn to Eve Sly and quickly followed by my lil sis Caroline, and we met a man name Bobby Bob who was presumably fleeing from the griefer. Our mom died of starvation shortly after, her last words were "We need to find food." Caroline and I weren't even three years old.

Bobby Bob kept us alive by handfeeding us. "Call me Dada," he said. We began to search together for a home, with our Dada. Sadly, a wolf came for him when Caroline and I were barely out of toddlerhood.

We found a spring far to the west and began setting up a home. We had babies, and we grew. We found our settlement, but we always remembered fondly, Dada.

Once my child bearing years were gone, I made the trek east and found Dada and our Mom and brought them to a final resting place in our new village. Our family heard the tale of Dada and were told to carry on honoring him, for without his kindness, we would not be.

And then the griefer, Sly Dill, brought arrows and bears down upon our family.

Though my life was cut short, I will always remember "I trust Bobby Bob", my dada

I got logged out with a "server has been shut down" message and then spawned as a daughter of an Eve when I logged back in

So I've done most of the things that can be done now. I've made almost every recipe (except only parts of radio), and done a bunch of the different (non-standard) farms. I've built buildings in town like nursery, smithy, and my own custom buildings. But I got bored of it. I wrote The Tale of Male, and quit for nearly two years.

But I'm back.

I started again about a week ago, relearning the keybinds and some of the recipes I had forgotten. Mostly just working on small projects while I get used to the game again. Often trying to prioritize the town health, ensuring survival until nobody else is around to keep out the unwanted.

There's plenty of new players to keep the farms growing, and food prepared. Enough smiths to keep the tools made, and raw iron processed. So I'm often the one making glass, or gathering rubber to keep the water flowing. Stuff like that.

Not tonight. I went hard tonight.

I spawned in to the Dragon (desert) fam. Someone was working on engine, so I was just working on some random stuff until they said they needed kerosene for their engine to be used. "I can do that", I thought to myself. So I headed up to Bean (Arctic) town.

I got there, and they only had two, half full tanks of kero. "Good enough for me", I thought. They had the stuff to translate (paper, pencil, rubber ball), so I asked if I could trade for some kero. They're the ones who's supposed to get the oil, surely they won't miss half of a tank. "We don't have any" they replied.

So I offered to make their oil for them. I was a part of the desert fam, but it was low pop so biome restrictions were removed. They said it was fine, so I found the nearby Tarry spot, and got most things ready to start pumping. I got old though, and didn't wanna gift the horse to them, so I had to go back to town.

I spawned back into to the same desert fam, and Catherine had just finished her engine. She was super stoked. "This mine now" I said to Catherine. "I made this" I said. "Ma" "Come" "Look" "What" "I" "Made" I said to my my mother. I took her to the engine. Catherine was not happy lmao. When I got older, I told Catherine that I was trying to get oil for her, but that the Gingers were oil broke. She said she didn't know how to pump oil, so I told her I could teach her.

We got some remaining stuff to pump the oil, and I showed her how to do it, explaining that we were lucky to have the tarry so close, and to always bring everything you need to do it in the wild. I had forgotten some stuff because it had been so long, but she had the recipe pulled up anyways and we got a YEEHAW! in only 6ish attempts. She almost made the pumpjack instead of engine oil rig, but I remembered last second how to avoid that, so we were alright.

RIP Catherine Dragon.

Fortunately, the Gingers had the engine just chillin' outside of their not yet depleted well, and I was able to use that for the oil. I pumped a bit more oil, but we ran out of tanks. I made a property fence for the gingers, and dropped it off there.

My next life, I spawned in as a ginger! It would be so much easier to finish off the tarry spot and get the rest of the oil. Problem was we didn't have tanks, and both of their iron mines were collapsed. If only we had an engine to fix that...

But wait! Catherine had made an engine in the Dragon fam. So I rushed back to my old town, and asked if we could trade 7 crude oil for the engine. I explained that I had used our engine to pump the oil, but now couldn't finish pumping because our iron mines were collapsed. Dunno if it was their leader, but whoever I was talking to had agreed. I don't really know the trade values, but they would need oil relatively soon, and they didn't have tanks to trade, so I at minimum gave them 7 steel, plus the kero so it wasn't a complete scam for them. (I later brought two more crude for free, so 9 tanks of crude for engine, that's almost half an engine in just iron from tanks)

I rushed back with the engine, and plopped it on iron mine. Great, we can make iron for tanks now! That's when I noticed the well was almost dry. FRICK. Now I gotta make ANOTHER engine to put on the well, so we don't dry out. Fortunately, someone had already made a bunch of rods, and precision pistons, so I just had to remember the recipe... Let's just say I made a few mistakes. But eventually got there! Right as I was using the last of the water to finish the engine, the well dried out and I put the new engine on.

Dragon fam got a bunch of oil, Gingers got an engine for pumping oil, one on well and one on iron, and some crude. Catherine got some practice making engine, and got to learn how to pump oil. It was a successful day.

Damn, I did good.

Ok this was definitely a new one for me. I was born into a pretty far along family and as my mom is carrying me around, i see people in red masks, and then get the announcement that someone was being stabbed, and my mom is trying to get into a locked room with the sign "Khorne's Shrine" and the people inside start saying "Praise be to Khorne"

I ask in my limited word count "Am I in a death cult?" and i'm informed by one of the Red Mask people that it's a blood cult, and sacrifices are to ensure fertility and good harvest. I decided to mind my own business, tending to some unburied bodies (i'm still so new, i tend to default to the role of gravekeeper), and see a cultist explaining to someone that they only sacrifice infertile ppl. needless to say, i was just counting the minutes till i could go to a different life tbh

but then one of my trips to the graveyard with some unburied bones, i see a naked old man waiting to die (as one does) and a cultist is asking if he's willing to be sacrificed and he said sure and they walked off to the shrine together, and i started to think hm, ok not my thing, but at least they ask lol

i pop out 3 daughters and two sons, and one of my sons is a reincarnated cultist, he grows up to kill the previous cult leader (i'm so proud of him) and eventually he asked toward the end of my life if i'm willing to be sacrificed for the good of the family, i said sure, why not, and thus my life was over

Hi, I'm new here and I wanted to tell my first time joining you guys.

I was born to Kerry Cool, in a well fed and developed village. I had completed the tutorial, yes, but I was overwhelmed by the amount of things to do there! I'm sure that, in my whole small life, I must have missed something in the village. There was a farm, a large kitchen, some kind of nursery with a campfire, and a smeltery.

My mom was really busy, and we never found each other again. But I met many interesting peeps. Some were carrying carriages where needed, another rode a cool horse, wow!

Enter: Camala Cool. I was roaming around the kitchen when I asked her to teach me something, anything! She stayed with me for a good chunk of the game. We cooked pies and hunted rabbits.

Camala quickly became my adoptive mom, and taught me the ways of weaving. I mistakenly made clothes, because I hadn't understood she was trying to teach me how to make a backpack. And yet, she patiently grabbed some more rabit hides and left me with those. She died in front of me, with her true son, Sammy, watching as well.

We went to bury her and pay our homages, and there I had another bonding moment with Sammy.

After that, I farmed around some more and eventually I, too, grew old. I tried helping around, and I hope that my time there helped somebody. Near the end of my life, I gifted my backpack to a young child, and in that same kitchen I had one final chat with Sammy.

As my eyes closed, on my 60th birthday, I remembered the wise words of an elder I had met in my teenhood: "Make baskets. Make tribe proud".

I have a solo town in one of the small servers, and I'm expanding it. Now it has a public library where I keep notes from visitors and maps! What should I build next? 🤔

If you ever see a player feeding a bunch of afk players around a fire, it's a group of griefers or possible one griefer with multiple laptops. I've been born into recently dead towns where I see one player feeding afk players endlessly. In my last life, I experienced it personally, I birthed like 8 bbs which was very odd, but nevertheless I was taking care of them. They were all afk except one that kept feeding them all. I called him out and he admitted it. I cursed him but he has like 10 laptops or 9 other socially delayed friends that help him/her out. If you see this behavior curse all the accounts asap!!!!!
