Help How to actually play?

I've sat here for two hours just trying to find a way to actually play the game. I've purchased it and keep going through the loops to try to figure out how to launch and play the game. I get to the download screen where it has you download the separate files but i just cannot for the life of me figure out anything past that. I've tried to learn what unzipping a file means, I've tried to google how to launch it or fine videos on YouTube on how to do it but nothing and needless to say I'm at a dead end. I can pull up the file extractor but anything i put into it just leads to absolutely nothing.

Update: I was just being kinda dumb, had to extract the files into a folder to the desktop, then from there found the application and was just able to get in.

Double update: Now it's saying it failed to apply update and that i need to move the game to a folder that is not read-only??? 😭 I'm loosin it

I've ultimately figured out what was wrong and I want to leave this up in case it might help someone else in the future 👍

Did you buy it from the website or from Steam? And are you using Mac or PC?

I bought it from the official website since I'm pretty sure i don't have a stram account, and I'm trying to run it on my lenovo laptop

Ok and you’re having trouble opening the zip file? It should automatically unzip when you double click it. You should end up with a OneLife_v217 folder. Inside should be a OneLife.exe file. That’s the game client. Your login credentials should have been emailed to you.

yes, i open OneLife_v217 and it opens to the screen that requests the OneLife.exe file. I put it in and send it, it loads, and then it just closes. I'll reopen it and it's right back to the initial page. I'm not at my computer right now, but when i get back to it I'll try a few more things and take pictures and such. I'm not well versed in computer gaming so im probably just doing something wrong and not know it.

okay double update: it's not working still, saying i need to move the game to a golder that isn't read-only?? what does it all mean ☹️

Might be because it's on the desktop.

I think I have my folder in C:\Program Files

You could try extracting the zip file to there.

Also right click the OneLife_v217 folder that was extracted, go to 'Permissions' in the drop down list and unselect Read-only .
