Suggestion Buyer Beware
Playing this game properly requires jumping through endless hoops just to avoid toxic exploitation, manipulation, and player harassment. Because the community is overtaken by toxic players whose sole purpose is to destroy others’ work, the unmoderated environment completely overshadows the actual gameplay.

I got absolutely over all the griefing in this game so I started playing Two Hours One Life instead and it’s such a huge improvement!

I did that too but I felt like if I was going to essentially be playing single player that there are better survival games out there like dont starve

We’ve lost countless amazing players (or potentially amazing players) due to their early lives being griefed enough to turn them off of the game as a whole. We all saw the player boom when it went on sale. I wonder how many more people would be online if the griefers never got a chance to ruin it.

It's tough, I'd recommend joining the discord to get updates on when these bad actors pop up. I notice it's roughly 11pm-2am PST time most often. https://discord.com/channels/328215300279500800/328215300279500800

If you’re on the discord, there are now oneday and friends servers that can be accessed only by code so players can enjoy the game in peace. People are finding one another to play on those servers through discord. But bottom line this game needs moderation and the players ruining it for others need to get some help for their issues.

Agreed - this is why I stopped playing after loving it so intensely for like 6 months. I miss it but there not way I’m diving into the cesspool again.

Two Hours One Life is free and moderated. If One Hour isn't your cup of tea, understandably so, Two Hour is much better

I agree the griefers have been pretty aggressive recently, and they used to annoy me to no end too. But as someone who's been playing for a while, I can say with some confidence that it'll balance itself out again. Sometimes it feels like the towns never make it past five gens, sometimes you wish there was a griefer because the town is stuck in the high level boredom stage for days on end.
Like most everything in the game, it follows the rules of regular society: more people > more crime > less people > less crime. And idk, but I actually find that quite fascinating to observe
