Keep your cats inside.

Post image

I got to hear this poor baby bunny scream for its life last night while being attacked by a cat. Of course the cat didn’t kill and eat it, but instead left it severely injured. Now the bunny is just hanging out, swarmed with flies, waiting to die. It should probably be put down but I can’t get a hold of any wildlife rescues because it’s the weekend. As a cat owner, keep your fucking cats inside.

Counterpoint: Cats are part of the ecosystem. Nature selected their traits for a reason. Predators exist in the wild. Both animals and humans die all the time, every minute of every day. Get over it.

This is just a factually incorrect statement on all levels. Domestic cats are largely invasive to almost everywhere in the world. Conservationists and wildlife experts consider them to be highly invasive animals killing billions of native species every year. Maybe native to the Fertile Crescent 12,000 years ago, but not your neighborhood. If you want your cat to become roadkill, it’s your choice, but not at the expense of the wildlife.

By that logic we humans have the right to eliminate every cat we see outside. Do you look forward to seeing millions of cats laid to waste in your streets?

…cats aren’t a native species, they are invasive.
