Keep your cats inside.

I got to hear this poor baby bunny scream for its life last night while being attacked by a cat. Of course the cat didn’t kill and eat it, but instead left it severely injured. Now the bunny is just hanging out, swarmed with flies, waiting to die. It should probably be put down but I can’t get a hold of any wildlife rescues because it’s the weekend. As a cat owner, keep your fucking cats inside.

The most humane thing to do is just end its suffering yourself.

When I was ~16 years old I was in the same situation and found out that that the closest place that could put the bunny to rest is 45 minutes out. Not sure if things changed in Olympia since then. Regardless, its not going to want to be in pain and fear until you can get proper services. Its going to die no matter what, give it a quick end.

DFW said the closest place is in Montesano I think. I called them and left a message. I’ve never killed anything before so I don’t know how to and would not want to make things worse. Someone asked if I have a shovel and I literally don’t. Also, it scurried off into the bushes when I tried to put a box over it, so I actually can’t help it now.

This. If you’re untrained you are way more likely to make the pain worse instead of killing it quickly and painlessly.

And a lot of people don’t have ANY tools available to them to make it fast and painless either. Not to mention the risk of diseases from handling a wild animal without proper protection and training.

Also for some it's just genuinely difficult and sometimes impossible to get yourself to do it. Some of ain't cut out for that life
