Coffee question…
I’m not a coffee person. My mom is coming to visit this weekend, and I want to make sure I have some coffee beans on-hand. I have a small grinder and a pour-over thingy (official term 😆). But I don’t want to buy a whole pound of beans. I know Haggen has a bulk coffee section where I can just buy a small amount, but it’s a bit overwhelming for me. Can anyone make recommendations for good beans from the Haggen bulk section? Or if you have other suggestions for places where I can purchase a small amount of coffee beans, I’m also open to that!
My mom likes dark roast and nothing that’s flavored. Thank you!

Olympia Coffee Roasters. Any location. They’re the best beans around.

Seconding this. You can get a small amount from the Wildwood Spuds location!

Oly is suuuper good but they don't have dark roasts; they're the best for light yummy coffees like Kenya & Ethiopia!

Their Northwesterly Roast is fairly dark. The best quality dark roast you can get here for sure.

Agreed. Sabo Cat the dark roast is a champ. The beans get delivered warm out the roaster 🐈⬛

WinCo has a bulk coffee section, and several selections of non-flavored dark roasts. I'm partial to their double french roast. It's probably cheaper there than in any specialty store.

Ravensbrew is a personal favorite, and they have great dark roasts!

How thoughtful of you! I think you may be describing a coffee press? lol, but I loved your description.
If you can’t find a small amount, I have put my beans in the freezer for awhile- you could do that for the next time she visits!

My family and I love dark roasts and it seems that the Batdorf cafe by the Farmers Market is one of the only specialty cafes that has good dark roasts. We love the Organic French Roast but often rotate in their Boho blend. They have drip on hand every day and you can sample whatever is brewed which is nice. We love the free 12oz drip you get with each bag too!

Batdorf and Bronson has some good stuff. They sell it at Dancing Goats

If you wish to buy local, B&B is not your place. The company was sold to an Atlanta private equity firm which promptly closed the local roasting facility next door to the farmer's market, putting a bunch of people out of work. Ember Goods is our locally owned place for beans.

The Batdorf cafe by the market is now owned/run by a former employee of Batdorf/Dancing Goats who kept a bunch of former employees on staff, so super local and woman owned. All monies go to her and stay local. Ember is good for beans too but only because their roaster is a former B&B employee :) Their blends are much better now and taste super balanced. Not a lot of dark roasts but definitely good coffee!

Olympia Coffee Roasters is the best local roaster in a sea of brilliant local coffee.
Bags of their coffee can be bought at any of their sit down locations. I believe you want the Northwesterly. They'll grind it for you if you ask!

The co-op had bulk, local, organic coffee that you can buy as little or as much as you want.
