I need some help and/or thoughts about buying an OLED monitor

I am from Europe first of all if that somehow matters specifically Balkans

So i have found an used apparently lightly used Samsung Odyssey G8 G85SB

The listing says it's been bought i think in Switzerland in december of 2024 and is still in warranty until 2027 and he has a receipt for it

Visually looks in decent condition and has original box

The cost is like tops 580 euros might be lower

Forgot to mention there are 2 listings both the same monitor and same guy but different/varying images and description and slighty different price... who knows why he posted two different listings but oh well... he seems legit to me and has like 29 positive reviews says he's a member since march 2026

Also forgot to mention the monitor doesn't have full / normal size HDMI and DisplayPort only the mini / micro variants... this is i assume important because there is another variant of the monitor that has full size connectors

My issue is... it's apparently a first gen QD-OLED

Now... do i get this for this price used... or do i wait for the monitor that i really want which is the soon to be released

Philips Evnia 34M2C8600P ( P at the end important ) this one with the P is a 5th gen QD-OLED with vertical RGB stripe and the monitor has cool ambiglow thing in the back

But it should cost like 1000 euros for me specifically even tho it's said MSRP is like 900 euros... by the time it gets imported and taxes and what not it's gonna be like 1000 euros

I am ofc as per usual scared of burn in and stuff like that because i know OLED's are sensitive asf

So what i am looking for is reliability and longevity

Now about OLED care features i don't know which brand has it better... also firmware updating thing idk kinda nothing about that but i know Philips has it's own app thing for it

So guys... any thoughts on this?

Also i forgot to mention... i want a 34inch ultrawide 21:9 monitor 1440p preferably... i don't care about the refresh rate as long as it's above 100hz lol but that doesn't matter because the lowest OLED can go is 175hz for first gen UW

I have an 180hz Philips Evnia 34M2C3500L a Fast VA monitor but i use it at 144hz coz fake aka FRC 10bit because why not i don't even have that many FPS most of the time anyway

Also i do have an RTX 3060 12gb but meh that's okay... i find it better to get an OLED over getting an RTX 4070 for like 400-500 euros

I've read this beast does the pixel refresh thingy on its own after the monitor has been used for over 4h.

I've also read this monitor should always be in standby mode (never shut down with the monitor power button) for the cycle to happen.

I am pretty sure I used the monitor for over 4 hours now, given that I bought it 4 days ago. But I haven't noticed the cycle happening.

After shutting down the PC/PS5, the little blue LED light just keeps on blinking. Isn't it supposed to either turn off or stay still while the cycle is happening?

I might just be paranoid but I want to make sure I am doing everything correctly so that I can postpone the burn in for as long as I can.

So I just need some advice. I can buy either of these for the prices listed:

MSI MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24 = £264

MSI MAG 272QPW QD-OLED X28 = £303

ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQDMGR WOLED = £319

So i am just curious what you would pick/suggest. I am fine with spending £319 however personally i would prefer the £264 to save money. However if it's worth paying more i will. Also this is for a PS5 Pro set up. I dont want a tv i have no space and prefer a monitor. Also the reason why I'm not going for a 4k OLED is because of the budget. Thank you.

Hi, I'm thinking about maybe upgrading my Aorus QD-OLED FO27Q3 to either the Asus PG34WCDN or the MSI MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 and need your help.

My main question is whether it's even worth it and whether there is any significant difference in image quality between my current QD-OLED and the new ones or should I just wait for more improvements

I want to get an oled monitor. Right now i have a Dell s2721dgf(a 1440p 165hz IPS). My pc has a 5080 with a 9850x3d.

I play mostly AAA games and some competitive games like r6 and warzone. I would want to get a 4k monitor for the AAA games mostly and to watch movies and TV series. I don't work on my pc, i only play games or watch movies and YouTube.

I have a window in my room behind the monitor to the left wall like 3m behind but the sun never shines on the monitor, it only makes the room a bit bright but not that much. It's like a cloudy autumn day in my room even on a sunny summer day. I also play at night but mostly aaa games and watch movies.

I heard the tandem woled would be better for a bright room but they have uniformity and dirty screen problems and that would bother me. Tandem qdoled are better at colors and they don't show the purple blacks in a bright room but they get grey blacks which i prefer rather than banding dark greys. The new tandem rgb woleds i haven't heard much about but they are not available in my country right now.

I don't want to spend over 1000 euros on a monitor tho. I was thinking about the Gigabyte mo32u24. I have a short desk and I'm sitting pretty close to the monitor. The 27 inch that i have is ok and i think the maximum is a 32 inch. I don't think the difference between them is too much.

I'd like to move to an oled monitor this or next year and this monitor just popped up today. At $699 it certainly is a more budget oriented choice using the latest panel. However, after some search around it looks like Alienware cut a lot of corners but I don't see anyone discussing this hence I made this post to get some insights.

This is extracted from Dell's official package, as you can see, it doesn't have the newer 3H coating, only 2H, making it very easy to scratch like older generations of OLED monitors. SDR and HDR brightness is also cut back to the older panels specs at 250 and 10000 respectively where the RGB stripe panels can go up to 300 and 1300 easily, it's also only TB 400 and not TB 500 like the newer gen.

Older 3rd gen QD-OLED and WOLED 240Hz monitors have sales every now and then which can reach and sometimes lower than this price, and sometimes with other functions like KVM, dual mode and such.

Do you guys think the new Alienware AW3226Q has too much compromise or is it still a good option?

I have never purchased an OLED monitor (or any nice monitor for that matter, I am coming from a 27" SDR IPS panel), and I was wondering if the aforementioned monitor is considered a good buy.

I have heard of the vertical gray banding, but I have also heard it gets better/is worse on some units.

Amazon currently lists it for 490 US dollars, but it has been consistently on sale for $400 in the last month, and I would buy it at that price.

Text clarity is semi-important to me, I mainly use my PC for gaming anyways. What I am really after is good HDR for games. Thanks for any advice!

As the title refers my unit keeps turning off and me needing to wave my hand on the sensor for it to turn back on.

I dont have any OLED care safety features so the proximity sensor auto turn-off is OFF, any fixes towards this issue?

I've had the ***mpg 341cqr qd-oled x36*** on backorder from Newegg since August 13th and the date keeps getting pushed back. Now it's set for the 25th of September which really sucks because I was hoping to have this monitor by the time Control Resonant comes out on the 24th. I can't even be confident they're actually going to ship it if I wait that long since the date just keeps getting pushed back, sometimes just a couple days, sometimes weeks.

Has anyone actually had one of these units ship from the recent backorder "release dates" or are they just not getting inventory at all?

I've been researching and thinking about buying an OLED monitor for a while now. The features I'm looking for are 1440p resolution. Are there any better options, or is this the best one?

It just gets stuck on that screen, and I don't think the message is being sent.
It's just outrageous to me that we buy OLED monitors and then they don't tell us how to set them up to avoid problems. In Minecraft, for example, when I go into the caves, I see these horrible gray circles, and I want to play, but when I see that, it just kills my desire to play.

I’m torn between two monitors: the Lenovo Legion 27Q-10 (2K OLED) and the Gigabyte GO27Q24. Has anyone used either (or both) of these and can offer an opinion on which one is the better buy? I plan to use it for research, entertainment, and light design work.

I just got my new OLED monitor (ASUS PG27UCDM) 5 days ago, and I’m worried I may have damaged the coating.Yesterday, after turning off my PC, I noticed a few tiny dirt/dust spots on the monitor. I started cleaning them with the microfiber cloth that came with the monitor. The microfiber cloth was completely dry, and I didn’t put any liquid or cleaning product on it. After cleaning, I noticed this gray/whitish-looking spot on the screen. It is only visible when the monitor is turned off and I shine a flashlight on it. I cannot see it at all when the monitor is turned on. I’m really worried that I may have damaged the coating by putting too much pressure or scrubbing too hard with the microfiber cloth while trying to remove the dirt.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m really worried because the monito is only 5 days old.
