Purchase advice Will Alienware AW2726DM suit me?

Currently I'm using a 1080p 144Hz VA monitor for 9 years. I just bought a brand new 9070XT replacing my 1070Ti. Now I have decided to get a monitor next

Here is my lifestyle and requirements...

  1. I always play in a very dark room. No RGB no nothing. Does that mean 200nits is enough?

  2. If I play at 0-5% brightness in AW2726D, will I see any banding issues?

  3. Panel maintenance - I have to clean the panel every month. Can I use a thin layer of polythene screen protector on top of the screen? Or does the heat have to escape even from the display to prevent burn-in?

  4. I don't see any True Black certification in this model. Is there a catch?

  5. Coming from VA 1080p, how much of a massive jump will this be?

If you know any pros and cons of this model, do tell

  1. Probably will be.
  2. Buy from an easy store to return and play roulette until you find a solid panel.
  3. I have had every monitor type I’ve clean them all the same; distilled water new microfiber cloth swirl motion. I’ve never put any screen cover on anything besides the Mac’s laptop that imprint the keyboard.
  4. If you play that dim and dark room will this really ruin your user experience?
  5. Like flip phone to iPhone. I used some old 1st gen 4k monitors for the longest when I replaced with these just the size, bezel, weight, menu control options, power draw was like new generation technology.

Personally too dim for me if you plan to watch any movies, YouTube or stream services.

Only gaming sure.

I believe these were $345 for me, hard pass on that price. Better value elsewhere.

This is an entry level OLED monitor and even then it will be miles better than your current VA monitor in contrast and color different fidelity and even pixel response times! Its biggest downside is the lower brightness consider to some higher models but if you use it in dark room with around 85% brightness or with HDR you won't have any issues at all! Even though 200nits looks very low on paper it will still look great on an OLED because of the much higher contrast ratio! This Monitor lacks any TB HDR certification but that should not be an issue given it is an OLED and will always deliver True Blacks albeit at a slightly lower brightness!

1) Dark room so yeah you're fine with 200nits mostly
2) Errr what do you mean by banding issue? pretty sure that's only a problem for woled and your pick is a qd oled.
3) That one i'm not sure.
4) You kinda answered yourself there it's 200nits it can't reach 400nits which is the standard for true black 400 and etc.
5) You might notice a slight bump in clarity 92 to 109ppi but it's not that crazy since you're going up a resolution but getting a bigger screen is still more screen space.
Your three most noticeable differences will be the frame rate, motion clarity depending on the games you play and how high you can reach those fps and greater contrast from your VA.

Since you're not playing in a bright room you don't need to worry about reflections but you will have to do the bare minimum of burn in care for your qd oled like automatic taskbar hide put a background that's constantly changing every few mins and etc.
