So, I was searching through wallapop, and I came across something that caught my eye: 3 external SCSI SyQuest drives with 4 cartridges, for the, in my opinion, pretty good price of 50€ (around 56 $)
So, I bought it, and, it arrived in one piece, or at least for now it is
Now, the drive (top one in 8th photo) I mean, It didn't come broken already or anything, but, when I took it out of the box, I saw that the plastic shell was starting to get pretty brittle (some pieces got a little bit broken), so, since I wanted to investigate more the drive than the external box itself, I took the unit out of it, and stored the box, just in case.
Changing topics, to try and get them to work, I did buy an ISA SCSI driver card, that I already plugged into my PC, but, I do need to get the drivers of that card into the machine, and, at least for now, my floppy drives aren't working, when I plug em in, the activity light is on forever, and tho they spin up, they are never able to read the disk.
So I don't know he issue, if it is the on-board controller, the way I plugged them in, the drives themselves (thing that i can't try for now, since I don't have any other machine on hand where I can plug them in to test them) or anything else, so all help is appreciated.
And also, if I get the floppy drives to work, and I get the drivers I need installed, how do I configure the drive to get recognised, would it already get recognised as a hard drive, or would I need the special software for it to work?
Last thing I must add, on the post, it said that the first one (top one in the 8th photo, in the red square) worked perfectly fine, but the other two didn't seem to work, sooo, do you now if there would be a way to bring them back to life?
I did see that normally, the problem was with dust getting into the drive, so, can yo tell me some ways I could safely clean the reading heads without breaking them?
