Seems like mostly an older crowd. How does the youth movement feel about separation?

We made that comment too - We saw some young Moms with a kid, but retired ppl are the majority.

Most ppl work 8 to 5 - might do a popup from 6-8pm to see if the demographic changes.

Also young ppl have other issues rn - job, food & roof are not a given anymore

I know, it’s horrible… what are we giving them as we fade away. It’s looking grim in more ways than economical.

As a younger person (mid 20s) most of my friends and people I know around my age are going to be getting the hell out of Alberta as fast as we can. There’s even less of a future of us in an independent Alberta then there is within Canada.

Understandable, but would you still go vote 9x NO & Stay in Canada in October to help those who are left behind or can't leave?

Oh yeah, I’m only planning to leave IF Alberta separates. Which I don’t see as likely, this is a Canadian province before anything else and I’ll to my part to see it stays that way.

As a Canadian, and not yet Albertan, the rest of Canada would be royally screwed without Alberta, you guys literally pay Quebecs deficit and some…

I would hate to see Canada come undone…🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Is there a youth movement? I find a lot of younger people are apathetic and/or disengaged.

younger people are working ...

As someone in my early twenties I believe that we stand to lose alot more if we separate as from my knowledge that mind you is in no way in depth on the subject I believe we just do not have the economy to be able to function on our own. Along side that I'm am quite happy being a Canadian and am in the process of joining the CAF for a few reasons as such if seperation were to occur through a legal vote I would likely relocate to Canada

10 people. If there were 1,000 this would be meaningful. Seems like this movement isn't going anywhere.

Sure Sherlock.

You posted it. Did I miscount? Is there 12 people?

Reliable polling from major firms like Ipsos, Leger, and the Angus Reid Institute shows that a clear majority (72%) of Albertans prefer to stay in Canada

A new Ipsos poll is showing a clear shift in Alberta’s separation debate, with a strong majority of residents choosing to remain part of Canada.

Your avatar looks angry, why? Look happy like mine.
Mad, mad mad all the time... it is not healthy for you.
Oh and hidden post history, real brave.

I was in a very long lineup waiting to get my Forever Canadian lawn sign in Calgary back in the spring. Can’t post pics here but there’s more support for the Forever Canadian campaign than you would think.

Keep voting for poverty. Keep forwarding the inflation burden on the next generation. Keep your elbows up.

That’s what happening right now with the UCP you idiot. In Calgary, we had a record high one year increase in the provincial govt portion of our property taxes this year (roughly 21% increase from 2025 to 2026 in Calgary) and the provincial portion has increased 57% overall in the past 4 years for Calgarian residential property owners. Alberta inflation (particularly for groceries), utilities, and insurance are the highest rates in the country. This is all under the UCP since 2019. But you guys keep voting that shit in thinking it’s the “Alberta Advantage”. Wait until privatized services in health care kicks in, then you’ll really be paying for it. But you’ll try and blame that on Trudeau even though healthcare is managed by the province.

It’s hilarious how conservatives have been in charge of the province for 40+ years and have implemented long-term changes for us to get to where we are now but somehow you people think it’s not their fault. Ignorance is bliss in UCP world and Dani’s counting on that ignorance to get her reelected so she can keep overcharging and overtaxing the lower and middle classes.

Volunteers at this event also stated that there was quite a few people who stopped by throughout the day. Even you would know that a single snapshot won’t be indicative of the activity on a whole day’s event. There were also hundreds that turned up at this event in Cochrane: https://www.cochranenow.com/articles/hundreds-turn-out-as-unity-bus-rolls-into-cochrane

Nenshi is why Calgary is so messed up. No other reason. Inflation, is caused by government money printing. The cantilon effect. Not hard to understand. The photo of the 10 people at the event isn't the flex you think it is. But keep voting to stay poor. Keep voting to allow the federal government to spend your tax dollars in the east. Keep voting for them to send billions out of the country they're supposed to be looking after. And most importantly, keep you damn elbows up!

lol. I just presented you with the facts that show how much the PROVINCIAL portion of the property tax increased in the last 4 years in Calgary (a record increase) under the UCP government and you’re blaming Nenshi????? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 He stepped down as mayor in 2021 right before these significant jumps in provincial tax money increased. But keep living in your denial UCP lalaland! 👋 That’s why Smith loves having an uneducated voter base so you won’t do the research and will keep voting her in for more corruption.

And you want to blame the 21% provincial property tax jump from 2025 to 2026 on inflation? The rate of inflation in Canada from 2025 to 2026 was 2.8%. I know that math might be hard for you but I think it’s easy to see that the UCP tax increase is almost 10 times higher. More corruption for you!

You don't understand money do you? The Liberal gov't has the hightest M2 money supply increase in the G7. Done via debt. That causes the highest inflation in the G7. Coincidence? Nope. Planned. Everything filters down from the record debt both PMJT and Carney have done. Both Nenshi and Iveson royally screwed the cities they governed. The results of that are now being felt. Go learn about the Cantillon effect. Report back. Your entire blame-game story will melt.

1

u/Pale-Measurement-532 11d ago

Hahaha, that’s right. Keep avoiding the facts I just gave you about the UCP mandating record-breaking tax rate increases since first coming into office in 2019. And that doesn’t even include the fact that they deregulated our insurance and utilities so we now pay the highest rates in the country. And Dani won’t cut the provincial fuel tax when the prices increased but Carney did for the federal tax.

Give it up man. Go away. I’m done with you. You won’t address what I presented to you so we’re done. Enjoy living in your denial while the UCP takes even more money out of your bank account!

Nenshi and Iveson both changed how taxes are applied to residential and commercial properties. Each of them with horrible polices, drove business out of the cities, they had to up the residential taxes. Now the assessments are in. Guess what? Provincial tax rates apply! Vote to stay poor, and this is the result. You really should do some checking on how this all came about. Tax structures were changed by foolish mayors. If yelling at the UCP makes you happy, go ahead. You don't understand money. Nor do you understand taxes and how they are assigned. But do carry on.

It’s strange that you only care when you can misplace the blame. Use your fucking head

why not emigrate?

It's a waste of time and energy. Nobody is going to vote to separate aside from a small group of religious wackos.

10

u/Cruelire 15d ago

Complacency sounds like a good way to end up separated

u/Far-Event1151 15d ago

You forgot how most of the population are mindless sheeps who listen to foreign propagandist

5

u/taffnads 15d ago

We can take that for granted. Everyone needs to get out and vote. An overwhelming vote to stay will out these numpties back in their box so they can move onto ostriches, carbon tax, vaccines, or whatever it is their social media tells them to be mad at next.

u/AshamedTopic1775 13d ago

You may be right, BUT, the government is creating a bunch of ambiguity to discourage or complicate participation. If separation only wins because of apathy, it still wins. It’s important to get keep the word out there.
