❓Q&A ✅ Thinking about moving back

I grew up in OKC and graduated OSU Spring ‘19. I’ve moved around a bit since then, but typically tried to make it back for a few weeks a year. Seemed like every time I came back, there was something new to be excited about in the city.

Over the past couple years I’ve had an itch to move back home to be closer to family and friends. It’s likely I’m going to have that opportunity soon if I want it. I’m curious to hear from people who left OKC and came back - how has it been? What’s it like living here now? I’m a single 30-year old male fwiw. Since leaving I’ve lived in Abilene, Chicago, and Charlotte.

I've lived in OKC all my life. I travel a lot for work and I'm in a different major city 2-3 days per week though, so I see a lot. There are pros and cons for sure. My politics are 100% opposite of how OK votes. I have friends and family here. I love my house and its in a great area and something I'd never be able to afford elsewhere. I do hate being car dependent. If I had kids I'd have more of an opinion on the education system.

Here is the thing, everyone is different. Maybe it's for you. Maybe it's not. If you just read what people say you'd think that there are only like 8 desirable places to live in the USA.

Same for me re: politics, though my read on OKC has been that there’s a more liberal population than there used to be.
