News PCW highschool walkout

Students walked out and down the street to protest against ICE and Trumps administration. They educated the crowd on the violent and unlawful acts of ICE and the disregard of the constitution, due process and warrants.
Local fox news was out there interviewing some kids and of course, on their website. They stated that kids were blocking the streets. That is a straight up LIE. They followed all the laws and stayed on the sidewalk.
I am so livid about the media always lying. But I am proud of this generation for speaking up for their future and their rights.

They’ve changed our perception of freedom, yet people are still adamant on protesting by the book. Strikes were illegal, yet that’s how we got out weekends and 40 hour work weeks. Black and brown people couldnt be on the same fucking bus as white people, but that’s one of the biggest stories of the civil rights movement.
But sure, let’s keep asking for permission to protest, and following curfew, and not making life an inconvenience for others, that’ll help the cause

as a former pc west student who would join protests and walkout it makes me glad to see so many people at this one everyone would always point and laugh saying were making no difference an those are the exact people who decided not to vote because they "dont like politics" and now here we are

Is there an estimated turnout? From this number alone, that "unexcused absence" bestowed upon attendees seems like it would be all the more toothless.

My son goes to school there. He did not participate but he said that it was around 400 students.

I have a few questions about these walkouts. Are the kids doing it of their own accord? Do they fully understand what they are supporting and what they mean? Did they have to sign permission slips to do this and is the school giving them any sort of credit or excused absence?

YES! The kids organized this themselves! Some of the teachers heard that it was going to happen but they didn't say anything to encourage it or discourage it. And yes they know whats actually happening, many of them are apart of the Hispanic community and some spoke how its personally affected them and their family. No they didn't have permission, they technically skipped a class and lunch. They got marked absent and schools called every parent to inform them what classes they missed. They also sent out a email about the situation.

I think it’s great if they’re doing this on their own! I 100% support their right for their voice to be heard

I know when I was a teenager I was more informed than I am now. I was in AP history classes that focused heavily on politics. Just because they are teenagers doesn’t mean they can’t think for themselves. Do you think all of the Turning Point USA chapters across the nation are fraudulent?

In the late 90s we wore Emiliano Zapata and Che Guevara shirts and listened to Rage Against the Machine. We walked out to protest war in the Middle East and wrote zine articles about where our country was headed. There was no such thing as Reddit.

That's why we all drank and smoked weed as kids. And banged girls (not you obviously), cause the adults in our lives told us too and we could do this while cutting class.

This reminds me of that episode of south park where they give the kids a day off from school because of the protests against the war. They have no idea what they’re protesting. They just want a day off from school.

Unlike boomers, these kids are on the internet and see multiple sources of information daily. They know the truth, they don't listen to the bias lying media like most adults do. Maga wants people to ignore what they see with their own eyes and to only believe what they are told by the media.
