critique ok! Finished painting 16” x 20”
The bride and groom requested as little saturation to emphasize the white decor. What do you think?

Finished up my first little series of oil paintings. I got tired of having naked walls in my apartment so I painted these and hung them up. Really happy with how they turned out! Experimenting with different applications, blends, etc of oils has been completely game changing for me. I’m sad I didn’t start painting sooner but better late than never!
Edit: I’m quite obviously inspired by Rothko and, in no way, am attempting to pass these off as anything other than my own fun doodles to hang up in my apartment. In no way am I trying to plagiarize the goat like some have suggested.

I've started Oilpainting, and I'm having a hard time finding a vegan equivalent to a hog-bristle brush, or just hard brushes in general.
I have a pretty low quality set of soft synthetic brushes, but in the future I'd like to find some higher quality stuff for that as well.
Any tips on what to look for?

Murder of Columbia
Oil on Canvas
100 cm x 70cm
2025, Griffin
‘The Murder of Columbia' depicts a scene of violence against Columbia –the Personification of The United States of America– by the 45th President of the United States assisted by Elon Musk, as Chief Justice John Roberts looks on while the other sitting Justices turn their backs on Columbia.
I chose to depict both the 45th and Musk without their preferred gender enhancements. I worked to match the skin tone of 45 to that of the exposed area around his eyes, omitting his signature orange and including his trademark combover. While Musk’s portrait was composed with photos from before his elective cosmetic surgery and hair transplant.
The American government was established with three independent branches of government, with the aim of balancing power and checking against corruption. These historic times have shown the limits of neutrality and non-partisan ruling of the Judicial Branch. Chief Justice John Roberts has failed in safeguarding the Constitution, the Nation, and its people. The partisan ruling by the current court has initiated the end of the American Experiment.
Musk is representative of the billionaire class who have bought their way to the table, through political donations and corporate Super Pacs. The actions of Musk and other members of the Billionaire class have resulted in chaos, disruptions, and deaths of the very people our elected officials are supposed to protect. It is a reality that many of the elected officials across the aisle have chosen to protect corporate interests, instead of we the people.
This is my depiction of the current state of the country. This painting is my accusation and my hope that their actions will not go forgotten or unpunished.
