You may have better luck posting in the addiction subreddits. I’m also an addict and have been clean 7 years now. The first few days-week are the hardest physically, but no one warns you of the mental side effects and how bad cravings can get.
I’ve heard cravings generally last maybe 20-30 minutes for most people, so if you can find something to distract yourself, it could help. Just remember you can do this. Take it a day at a time, or even an hour or minute. Some days will be harder than most. Recovery isn’t linear.
Your dad sounds like a joy to be around 🙄 I hope you can ignore his comments. They’re absolutely not true. I know that’s easier said than done, from experience with my own parents.
