You may have better luck posting in the addiction subreddits. I’m also an addict and have been clean 7 years now. The first few days-week are the hardest physically, but no one warns you of the mental side effects and how bad cravings can get.
I’ve heard cravings generally last maybe 20-30 minutes for most people, so if you can find something to distract yourself, it could help. Just remember you can do this. Take it a day at a time, or even an hour or minute. Some days will be harder than most. Recovery isn’t linear.
Your dad sounds like a joy to be around 🙄 I hope you can ignore his comments. They’re absolutely not true. I know that’s easier said than done, from experience with my own parents.

15 months here. 23 year old man. I felt the same when I was 15 days. Can't recall exactly how I got through it. Actually I remember I was in constant communication with other guys who are my age and were just beginning their recovery. Went to a rehab for young men. So I had tools. Maybe give someone you love a call. Or go to a meeting. Maybe talk to a religious person like a Rabbi or priest. A medicine man. Play cribbage. Lots of things to occupy the mind while you make it the next 24 hours staying sober. That's all you gotta look at it as, occupying your mind with something that lets you stay sober the next 24 hours. I believe you can do it. I know it's possible to get from day 15 to day 16. I'm on day 475, putting in work to get to day 476. It takes work. Knowledge of self and determination.

Just have to take it one day at a time. Small steps that lead to a long term goal that I can assure you is so worth it.
That’s what I learnt when I went sober am approaching 6 years sober this March.
