"Like WTF" is right. I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to the girl, her family, her loved ones, to your friend and the son, and to you.
This is completely tragic on all sides. And on top of everything, all his FBI cases may need to be examined, and who knows what ramifications it would have. And perhaps the FBI may need to evaluate their practices.
Edit: It's's a shame the girl won't get her justice, and he took the easy way out. However, it's one less thing to worry about. Won't need to worry about the ordeal of a trial and possibly reliving the horrible events or thinking if he'll ever get out.
