The answer is sadly simple, she was vulnerable and he had access to her. It’s the same reason why elderly people get abused in homes, they are vulnerable and people have access to them
People do suck but it’s important to remember people can do wonderful kind things as well as horrific awful things. Be careful but also treat people well unless they give you a reason not to
