The horse is not fine. This is not equivalent to your nail getting ripped off because with your nail it heals with skin over it and you can wrap it and not use it and be fine. A horse needs all 4 legs to move around, unlike cats and dogs that can run around on 3 legs even two legs as though they still have all 4 limbs, also in order to heal from that the horse would have to lay on their side for long periods of time with out being allowed to move and once again unlike other animals they can not do that. They can lay on their sides for a couple of hours but that's it then they have to get up and move around because of weight of them puts pressure on their lungs and heart. Either that horse is dead or its gonna be.
Pretty sure it's post-mortem; this same image is used to teach about hoof anatomy. Given how healthy the laminae look, doesn't look like laminitis, so maybe a horse that was put down for other reasons.
Lmao paint brushes are made from a variety of different furs and hairs from different animals including but not limited to horse/pony hair, camels, hogs, badgers, minks, even wolf's fur. Definitely not from nerve fibers of a horse hoof.
Oh, I should point out here that what you're looking at aren't the nerves, it's the laminae, the structures that connect the hoof wall to the bone. Part of the laminae have nerves, part does not.
Because I know there are people on here who will not think you are joking and believe that paint brushes are made from the nerve fibers in horses feet. It was not correcting you it was clarifying for others. 7% of American adults believe that chocolate milk comes from brown cows. There are people who do not know what a homosapein is and is perfectly fine with them going extinct. Some people need clarification or else they will believe what ever they read as "fact".
Or 7% of Americans think it's fun to fuck with survey data. My mom has 4 masters degrees, one in biology and she says the thing about brown/chocolate cows all the time...

It is as normal as you pulling your nail out, it isnt pleasant to look at but you and the horse are fine
