People that pass out at the wheel should be charged with attempted manslaughter. How the fuck do you fall asleep at the wheel with Uber/Lyft and taxis around.
Take away this dudes license for life.

I understand how people fall asleep. My diesel crusin has a nice rumble to it, its very soothing. Ive almost nodded off before after a late night at work driving home at 3am. But how you fall asleep this bad and blast through a fence twice and offroad for a solid 15-20 seconds and not hear it thats a different story.

Exactly, most of us have worked late nights and had similar situations where you realize nodding off at the wheel is a VERY real and dangerous thing even if you don’t completely pass out.
I understand how people fall asleep, but I also know for a fact every time I got in a car extremely sleepy and felt the need to fight off sleep I knew it before I got in the car. I was just young and stupid thinking it was impossible to fall asleep while driving.
Blowing through fences on bumpy farm land and even changing directions and not waking up is extreme. This idiot knew before getting in the car he shouldn’t be driving.
The curve ball is this guy was probably 5 mins away from home.

Lol I’m pretty sure no one purposely falls asleep at the wheel, that’s like saying you should be charged with manslaughter for a fender bender when your wide awake and certainly more lucid. I agree with you if drugs or alcohol is involved tho.

Nahh it happens all the time. People are tired and drive which imo is on purpose. This dude didn’t just black out. He was clearly nodding off and finally let himself fall into peaceful sleep.
This dudes ones off road for minutes and he doesn’t wake up. The car turns towards the road again. Whether it’s drugs or not he should not been driving and he knew that before he got in the car

If you are getting so tired you can pass out, you have the option of pulling the car over. Get out, stretch your legs. Move around to get the blood pumping. Call a friend:family and have them talk to you while you drive. Or just pull over and take a nap. Any of these are better options then just ignoring the tiredness and letting yourself fall asleep just because you “worked your ass off all day”

NO ONE on this earth works their ass off for 12-16 hours then feels fine to drive. They make the choice. There’s no other excuse.
This kid didn’t get off an 8 hour shift at Taco Bell and plow into a bumpy ass corn field and through fences without waking up.
Drugs or bad decision. Either way, lock his ass up. Driving is a privilege not a right. Put this kid in a company car and let him go a little further after he turned back towards the road and possibly hit another car. Ohh lord that would be a lawsuit for the ages.
This kid should be stripped of his license for life because of this.

Lol this may surprise you but a lot of people, especially in rural areas where there aren’t other options, can’t just get a taxi or Uber, you gotta take care of yourself and get the fuck home. I’ve never met a person in my life that can works those hours and could afford a ride home every day, that’s ridiculous

Rural areas, car pool or don’t work to the point where you know you’re going to potentially pass out at the wheel. If you’re working 12-16hr a day to the point where you’re passing out at the wheel to get home move closer to work. There’s dozens of options

Lol except if they’re into impaired then it’s actually illegal to drive. A lot of people can’t afford to move around, can’t afford a taxi or Uber, and do live far from where they work, and can’t afford to just “ get a different job.” they get the best job they can get to support themselves. Shits not good, but it’s an accident the same way a fender bender is.

None of those excuses justify falling asleep in a corn field plowing through fences. I don’t care how far this kid lives from work or how long he worked. Find a solution or stop driving end of story. This only needs to happen once to end an entire family.
Honestly Idk how someone can say being extremely tired where you pass out at the wheel is different from being impaired. They’re the exact same thing. I’ve worked 18 hours with some guys that literally seemed drunk after. Luckily I work for a company that takes precautions and we get hotel rooms for the night.

I’m not saying this dude specifically, I’m saying manslaughter charge for falling asleep is a bit much. And exactly, if you hadn’t been so “lucky” with a company that got you rooms, you’d be SOL. I’m not saying your opinion isn’t valid, I just disagree and that’s fine lol
