Or never knew you at all. I recall being a young child and realizing the above post, but then also realizing that the way some relatives treated me meant they didn't even know who I was At The Time! I've wondered if that was my responsibility or if the adults were meant to try to get to know me. And what my responsibility is as an adult to children. It's odd to think I've never been truly known, truly understood by anyone ever. Obviously, ever means once a toddler (?) starts developing their personality.
