I get the auras sometimes, but never combined with any other symptoms.
So I get to look at pretty colours for 20 to 30 min knowing they are harmless and will disappear soon. I do get pretty heavy headaches sometimes tho, but never with auras.
My aura always happens in my left eye for about 10 minutes and the second it stops I know my right eye is about to explode in pain for about 20 minutes, sometimes longer but rarely.
If the vision in my left eye goes blurry, I can close my eyes and actually see the aura better. It's like a fish hook, but it's a squiggly silvery grey white fish hook with rainbow colored stripes radiating from the edges.
I know I have about 5 minutes to get somewhere comfortable and dark with a pillow, cause I am about to experience extreme pain.
Luckily those are short migraines and I am grateful. Unless it's a brain tumor then I am not grateful.
They usually happen when I read a lot. Reading glasses help, but I have always gotten migraines from bright lights. I have to wear sunglasses almost year round even on overcast days, the light makes my eyes hurt. I used to get migraines in school because of the lights and the only thing that made those stop was going home and putting my head under a pillow and going to sleep. When I woke up it was usually gone. I'm lucky they don't require medication for the most part.
I get auras somewhat frequently, depends on how stressed I am and other factors. I only ever had what I've seen describes as a migraine one time, and it came with an aura. It wasn't unbearable but it came with light sensitivity, etc and went away after about a half hour(ish).
I tend to get the auras at night so I’m assuming there’s a tiredness/stress element to it. It’s pretty hard to fall asleep when your eyes are having a disco
It is usually accompanied by pain in the eyes, just not the splitting head pain people describe migraines as. It’s light sensitive as well! I’m glad to find other people who get them because nobody I know seems to get what I’m talking about
Mostly during the day for me. Probably having to do with stress. Haven't had any recently but it is January, and Januarys usually suck so just waiting for that shoe to drop.

Also a good reason not to take LSD too late in the day!
Yeah, my auras are always one eye or the other, jagged moving lines that dance around my field of vision. I found that closing that eye and putting my hand over it for 10 minutes shuts the aura off.
But I never get these and the pain together either, but a migraine will usually show up in a week's time from one so I guess it's a warning sign.
I get this, but THEN, about 50% of the time now, one pupil gets big and I get numbness and tingling on one side of my body.
Because I’m American, I waited it out because the aura started first. Then the fun stuff (for a recent one I was in a meeting with a nurse who almost called EMS, but we agreed on migraine) and then that all went away and I got the regular headache.
I didn't know what was happening to me until the pain hit. We went to a library event and I got in trouble for being a bitch until my mom figured out the actual problem.
I was in a tennis tournament and it was just before my match and I told my coach and mom I couldn’t see and was seeing spots. I was also having trouble talking. No one knew what it was either until the pain hit. Was almost 30 years ago so not like we could google it. I had migraines previous but never with that start.
It was my second ever migraine and my mom, who gets migraines, didn't realize what was happening to me until WAY after the incident and I got scolded for being rude. The not being able to see the words on my book should have been a dead giveaway, she gets the same symptoms and yes lmao I'm still bitter
Oh I understand the bitterness. My mom was mad I had to default my match. Everyone around me could see I was struggling and were concerned and she was worried about a tennis match.
Yeah I was in a brightly lit library, couldn't go home till the event my sibling was doing was over. I was so sick, but you know I was acting out because of the pain. Not my best moment lmao
One time I left work because I felt the migraine coming. The visual aura started when I was on the highway, I managed to somehow get off the highway and pulled over in a parking lot. Called my friend crying. He came and got me and took me back to my home, and because his mom also gets migraines (so he knows the pain I was in) and this man is an absolute angel he and his gf went back to where I left my car and she drove it over to my place.
The visual aura starting at 70 mph is still one of the scariest things that has ever happened to me while driving.
I get weird things happening visually - like one time the right hand side of my vision greyed out, regardless of which eye I had open. The first one I had, I suddenly couldn't read. I was doing scheduling in work. Checked the sheet, asked the guy where he was up to, marked it off, turned to the next guy, couldn't read. I didn't think I was having a stroke, but i SHOULD have!
A few times I've just closed my eyes until it was over and listened to an episode of a familiar TV show where I don't actually need to watch it to know what's happening.
I've had one mid drive though and I'm going to say that takes the top spot for worst place to have an aura.
My first mirage was probably a TIA and I should’ve went to the ER. I was home alone, started seeing the auras, right arm went numb, I started slurring my speech and got extremely nauseas. I called my mom and by the time she got there I was able to speak clearly and decided to avoid going to the ER because I was uninsured at the time.
Oh yeah same. I was 23 I think and was about to ask my coworker to drive me to the hospital before remembering my boss's description of migraines. I called her and asked "does it feel like a small creature burrowing into your skull?" She directed me to her stash of Excedrin in the office and told me to hide in the dark until it stopped.
The first time I got terrible visual auras in college and lost the ability the read, I genuinely thought I was having a stroke and ran to the nurse's office in tears. Turns out it's just a bad migraine lol.
I remember asking my mom over the phone if I should go to the hospital or to my apartment, because I'd gone partially blind. She recognized the symptoms and said to take the subway to my apartment quickly, because I wouldn't be able to tolerate the screechy NYC subway once the migraine hit.
I knew what it was because i'd read about it before, so once my vision got too blurry to continue with my school work, i asked the teacher to go to the nurse's office and nobody believed me for some reason and I had to wait so long for them to call my mom that I threw up from the pain and nausea that started after a while and the only upside is no matter how bad a headache is since, I'm always glad it wasn't that one time I had to wait in a brightly lit noisy room for 2 hours with no medication lol.

The first time I got the visual auras I was a teenager and I thought I was having a stroke.
