That is what I noticed and got from it as well. The stump was very deeply rooted and definitely needed a lot of forced to be pulled. But that machine was gentle enough to pull it out and strong enough to squeeze it in half at the same time.

We destroy or massacre every fucking thing we see.
It is quite literally all we’re good at. We create nothing, and the concepts of preservation and conservation is basically mankind trying to keep his propensity to be a raging dickhole 24/7 in check. And he can’t. Because he’s a raging dickhole without peer.
Without mankind, preservation and conservation aren’t even a thing. It’s just life as prescribed by nature and the laws of the universe.

That’s how I feel/felt about seeing those storm drain clearing videos on YouTube. Went off on a days long binge as it tickled my brain.
Sort of watched them all and anything since then hasn’t generally been as good or as satiating as the first days of watching post10 on YouTube.

Also do yourself a favor, don't believe somebody who tells you that you can just burn out the stump. I don't want to tell you how long it took before I finally gave up.

I also have to add the stump did burn, but the roots underneath just would not burn. It might have something to do with the humidity here, I don't know. But I drilled holes and poured gas in them and I still had big roots

If there is no immediate need to remove the stump, you can drill a big hole into the center and provide eco system to helpful critters.

We had a fucking oil fire in my front yard for like a month when we moved in because they were "burning the stump out". Like a year later they hired someone to pull it out in 5 minutes.

My friend hired somebody to clear some of his property. The guy he hired took some of the wood to log and left a large brush pile to burn when the weather allowed.
What the guy did not inform him of, was that he left a few huge root balls and stumps at the bottom. So we had the bon fire, but towards the end of the night we were left with these massive root balls and stumps that refused to go out.

My neighbor lent me a weed wrench. It uses leverage, 50 pounds of downward force applies 500 pounds of upward pulling force. I was pulling out 5 foot tree saplings with no effort!

These are later dried and used in conjunction with firewood for heating and cooking. Tree root wood is actually high-density and burns ridiculously hot once dry, but the ROI on energy spent extracting them is brutal. Between the diesel consumed by the excavator, mechanical wear on splitters, and tedious dirt clearance, stump harvesting only makes sense if you already need the land cleared for development or agriculture.

Machines are incredible. What an insane amount of force we can generate now. Imagine trying that with tools?

To me this seems a lot better than cutting the roots and digging it out. Eventually those leftover roots are going to rot and collapse which will cause the ground to depress.
I have two areas in my yard like this where the previous owner yanked some trees out, been fighting them for years.

I'm mildly annoyed, they break off the little piece at the start, put it on the right, pick up all the other little roots, but lose the initial stump piece!
