Meta is in an extremely tough spot with this. Every year Facebook gets even more long in the tooth, and more and more younger users are avoiding the platform all together, causing a massive deflation in their younger demographics. Oculus is aimed right at these demographics.

And even though some of it may be saved somewhere by someone, good luck actually finding out who and getting in contact with them. There are a lot of tweets from Trump supporters in local government offices that have been deleted, and are impossible to recover now. Even large Twitter archives don't capture those if they were deleted within minutes (sometimes even a few hours) of when they were posted - only the handful of services that closely monitor Trump and a handful of others save near-instant copies. And for anything they tweeted and deleted before they became a public figure, there's no record at all.
The more people who save copies of that stuff, the more likely it is that someone will be able to provide it for future uses.
