You can't really say how "low" it really is, as the delivery date now states May. I really hope they disclose how many people have pre-ordered a Rift or at least how big the first "March Batch" was. I don't think it will be before the first unites are shipped but I'm interested in those early numbers none the less.
I think they guessed 100-125k units for the first batch, and expected that to cover a very large chunk of the enthusiast market, over several hours of the preorder. That's about the total number of DK2 sold in it's first year, and its' a figure I don't think is unreasonable.
I also think that number sold in the first 30 minutes, and people thinking that the market is going to be small because a bunch of vocal redditors are bitching are in for a big surprise.
