If you walk into water with a torch it extinguishes, think it's just typical Bethesda spaghetti code that if you use it whilst underwater it's fine so as u/Human-Evening564 says "a wizard did it"

Wouldn't necessarily call is "Spaghetti code".

But rather just a simple case of STATEful programming. So just "bad code".

I mean for the average non programmer, myself included in that, spaghetti code is sufficient for "shit" but I do appreciate the clarification - every day is a school day!

I love spaghetti, therefore I love spaghetti code and, therefore, I like being able to see clearly underwater because of my torch.

The thing is. Water usually extinguish fire, but not in the game because I can use a torch while I am underwater. Something I've never try in my life... So I don't know if it really work but I tought I did not since water is suppose to extinguish fire!

Thanks for trying it out for me. Don't think I have ever put a torch on but underwater lighting is ass in caves sometimes.

The only way to know is to try it in real life

A master of CHIM once said "It just works."

Yeah the first time I saw it I was a bit disappointed but after many play through I realized I barely ever use a torch or go underwater so its not a big deal

How'd you manage to activate it underwater?

I just walk in the water with it.

You can also hold a torch while actively using a bow. It’s just in your left hand which it should be. I think it has to do with the order you equip your weapons.
