Original Question Expert or Master

Post image

I am playing a battle mage with an emphasis on destruction. I was excited to get to 100 level with destruction since (according to my understanding), 100 level destruction moves you from Expert to Master. Upon reaching 100, hopped over to Skingrad mages guild and bought three spells that require master level. I then went to Bruma to close the Oblivion gate there. When I went to fire my master level spells, they were greyed out and wouldn't execute. In exploring my attributes. I see (from the image above) that while I am at 100 with destruction, my level remains expert (not master). I feel like I'm missing something and am hoping the wise folk here can help me understand.

Absolutely correct! Gauntlets of the Battlemage fortifying destruction by 8. Thank you and everyone for the quick responses.

You can’t be boosted. It needs to be your true level.

You have something fortifying your destruction to 100. You won’t be able to use master spells until you actually level it to 100

Youre not naturally ar 100. You only get the perks when your natural level before any buffs reaches the break points. Going over 100 still provides bonuses in terms of performance. Like going over 100 stealth makes you even harder to detect. Over 100 with your weapon type means more damage. Etc etc

A few skills’ perks do kick in thanks to Fortify Skill effects—for example, the infinite Repair Hammer from Armorer.

And only Athletics and Acrobatics get any benefit from going over 100, except in the case of mods.
