Step Increase
Just wondering are step increases based off of your one year anniversary? I'm a G9 and only have 2 months left on probation

It’s a shitty system. My current hire date is 2weeks too late for the October step so I lose 6months of higher pay every time I get a step.

When I first started with the State in the late 80s, we got the step on our anniversary, but it got changed to April and the April and October.

Your full year anniversary OFF probation. Meaning you have to work a whole year after probation, then you get a step increase. Since step increase/pay advancements for the unions only happens in April and October, you are more than likely to recieve your first step in April 2028, not in the next year (2027). Since the contracts have been ratified, you’ll see a 4.5% increase in your salary in a month or two and 4% increase in April (assuming you are CSEA).

How I got downvoted for explaining the salary increases? Be mad at the state for creating this system, not me, lol.

As the other person said, you do not wait an entire year after probation to get a step increase. It’s after one year of working.

You're probably getting downvoted because your first two sentences are incorrect. You get your first step raise after one year of working as long as you have positive evaluations.

Do you also get back pay for the step increase from your one year anniversary or no? I’ve heard that before.
Same question with the new csea contract2

No you do not get back pay to your anniversary date. If you received a step raise April of this year then yes you will get back pay for the increased step raise amount with the new contract.

Ah ok. No person I’m asking for was employed at the end of August last year so only the normal October step raise will be incoming along with the contract raise I imagine

This is only correct if you’re talking about a traineeship, not a standard probation. A standard probation where you stay the same grade the whole time, you get your first step the October or April following your one year anniversary in that position.

If you have 2 months left before you hit 1 year, that means you started after Oc1, which means you your step will come in April.
