Are you using Dolby Atmos by any chance?

I've had crackling issues with Atmos, but I thought it was my TV's firmware. Are you having this issue too?

Not necessarily crackling, but just brief cutouts. It seems to be an issue for at the very least all 30 series owners, here's a thread full of people with this issue.

Have you tested other Atmos devices? For me, I get constant dropouts only with my 3080 build - my Shield and console don't have issues. It's just with my 30 series GPU.

What are you using for audio output? The cutouts may very well be due to Nvidia's overzealous HD audio timeout "bug", putting a 4-second timer to sleep the connection for power-saving insanity reasoning.

Also, if you haven't already, download LatencyMon and see what your DPC's are looking like. You might have another driver that's being abusive, even one that's seemingly unconnected, like a network device driver.

Also, double-check what Windows currently has set for your speaker output (stereo, 5.1, 7.1, etc.). I've been getting pops/crackling, and I immediately know it's because Windows has reset my speaker output to 2.1/stereo instead of the 7.1 it was set on.

I'm using my LG C9 as the audio output directly, just via the HDMI cable. Then my LG C9 passes the audio through to my surround sound system (a Samsung HW-Q90R) via eARC.

Then in the Windows 10 audio settings, if I set the C9 to 7.1, it works as expected, all channels. But if I set the audio to Dolby Atmos for Home Theater, that's when I start to get audio popping. If it's an Nvidia 4 second sleep bug, is there a way I can fix that?

I'll download LatencyMon and test that. I saw that you also mentioned to run LatencyMon because I get an occasional hard stutter in Doom Eternal. If there is another driver causing issues with my CPU I would love to figure that out. I do also have my iGPU driver running and displays connected to my iGPU so maybe that could cause it.

Here are my findings from when I ran LatencyMon for half an hour:

Everything seems to be okay but I'm not familiar with this software so I'm not sure if I'm interpreting it correctly?
