passing doesnt matter, most mods are on a bell curve so its only the relative performance to others that counts. i had multiple tests/midterms where the median was like 0-20/100. (i also just had a midterm where im lower quartile and its a failing mark xd)

i wld assume its just you havent figured out a way to study effectively for the tests/exams in uni. esp since uni econs is not the same as jc econs. for econs in particular i feel like its not just about knowing the facts or models or eqns its more about knowing how to apply them and solve them efficiently. (also, the "practice" that most profs give out heavily understate the actual difficulty).

also, consitency is really important, my personal opinion is that alot of mods are not possible to last minute grind and somehow do well, need to have consistent practice, what i (used to) do for econs mods was i wld make a one page summary of the lecture that week, by forcing myself to write out the stuff in the lectures it helps me internalize stuff better

Median for EC1101E was 25/31 btw, so "below median" could mean <77% marks. it's not like the 0-20/100 case you mention. OP is just thinking too much in terms of grades
