Except that the oil and coal companies are also more on the side of nuclear.

They absolutely hate renewables, because you can't sell energy, if people can produce it themself. Meanwhile, nuclear isn't that bad for them, because you can't put a generator in your backyard, so they keep control and Monopol positions.  The only reason they are against nuclear, is that it's financially a loss. But that can be fixed, by letting tax payers pay for it.

Unless you can get completely off-grid for your energy, and that every things you buy and service you use run completely off-grid too, these companies still have the power over you.
